o.k. in my defense-I write checks because I have bad record keeping skills. I use my debit card and pretty soon, I start getting letters from the bank. I can NEVER keep track of it I tell myself every time I will-I never do. Then I spend 2 hours balancing my checkbook via the my phone and trying to figure out where "withdrawal....in the amount of....15 dollars....seventy-five....cents" came from I realize this isn't other people's problem-but I usually write my check out before they ask for the total. So it takes just as much time

also-I have duplicate checks because of this..hahaha
I used to be SO good. Now I don't pay attention I need to work on that

See, you? Are a courteous check writer. You know who to make it out to & you know how to sign your name, so you do it ahead of time, perhaps while the cashier is still ringing up your purchases. Problem is, most others aren't like you. Apparently they think they'll be arrested if they try to fill out any portion of the check before the cashier tells them the total. Oh, and they never have their ID ready either.

Online banking is the best thing since sliced bread. I look at my account, every day, to view any activity. And believe me, I've found a bunch of ****- for example, bad checks that people have written me- that I've deposited. It would've taken SEVERAL DAYS longer, for me to find out through the mail. This way, I can start hounding them immediately!

I suffer from checkout rage, and 95% of the time, the paper check writers seem to be at least 55-60yo.

They're keepin' it real. Old school. Tru dat.
I'm serious. I think stores should charge $1, for writing a paper check. These old farts would change, just to save the buck.

My otherwise totally normal, well adjusted, and successful friend writes checks a lot, she is 32 like me. I'm always all "Rain, why don't you just use your debit card", and she's all "*shrug*". The town is kinda small, maybe they got "pay by debit" late, but it still seems odd.

^^^
I do think part of it is a small town thing. Go 30 miles in any direction of here, and the credit card machines take like two minutes to process your card. And they don't have "pay at the pump". Damned hillbillies!

Krogers is the best here. That machine will have your receipt spit out, before you can stick your wallet back in your pocket! That's MY kind of machine.
BTW, I'll race anyone on a U-scan!
On a similar rant, the genetically challenged shouldn't be allowed on the U-scans.
