Lindsay: The next Stevie Nicks?

Now an insider tells Life & Style the 20-year-old spitfire is looking to take her career to the next level by angling for a role that will merge her love for singing and acting…and hopefully get her that Oscar she’s been dreaming of! “She says that movies like Ray and Walk the Line are good examples of the kinds of projects she’d like to do,” the insider says. “She feels like she’s found a dream role in a story about Stevie Nicks at the height of Fleetwood Mac’s fame. Lindsay loves the music of that era, and [people] have told her she has the same distinctive gravelly voice as Stevie’s.” Lindsay is working behind the scenes, says the insider, to get the rights to the story so she can produce it herself. She even has a leading man in mind to play Stevie’s longtime love and Fleetwood Mac band mate, Lindsey Buckingham — dreamy Jared Leto! “She keeps saying what a great team they are on-screen and that she has always wondered why he didn’t have a bigger career,” says the insider. That’s music to our ears!

If she wants to try to fill Stevie's boots, more power to her. I don't think she has the draw of crowds like she did a few years ago. I'm just glad Stevie's story has been discussed. But how much "story" do they know? It will be hard to get a good 2 hour drama without the band coughing up some inside info....

The L&S source revealed, "[Lindsay] keeps saying what a great team they are on-screen and that she has always wondered why [Jared] didn't have a bigger career." The magazine claims that Lindsay is being very proactive in the process of securing the rights to the movie. She may even serve as one of its producers. As much as I'd love to see a Stevie movie, I fail to see how one can be made if they limit it to the "height of Fleetwood Mac's fame." That's 1978, and nothing especially tragic had happened to any of them at that point. Yeah, there was a lot of partying amidst some affairs and breakups - boo-freakin-hoo.
On the other hand, if they started in the studio while Bella Donna was being recorded, and ended with Stevie coming out of rehab, clear-headed at her piano writing DTBTIC, I could see it. All the Mac stuff could be handled in hyperreal drug-fueled flashbacks - that way you couldn't tell what was real and what was exaggerated, thus sparing everyone else's precious reputations. Much more interesting will be the Landslide of lawsuits that bring down Ms. Lohan is Stevie doesn't like what's going on.

A few months back, I came close to putting together a script that focused on Stevie and her friendship with Robin Anderson. It started with them meeting in high school, and ended with Stevie choking up on stage after her death. Unfortunately, every time I put it to paper it was just too damned depressing.
Of course, it would also have plenty of kick-ass live performances.

seriously, and thankfully, i don't think she has a prayer of securing the rights. we all know what control freaks stevie, lindsey, and mick are. it'll never happen. thank god.
