I had some great soup not too long ago. It's a great Vietnamese rice noodle soup called Pho. Mine came with beef and chicken, rice noodles, bean sprouts, mint, cilantro, lime, and a kick ass broth. It had a great balance of sweet, sour, salty and spicy. My friend Jamie swears by it as a great cold and flu relief. Medicinal or not, it's friggin delicious.

I had some french onion soup a Ruby Tuesday once...wanted to try it for the first time. It was awful. Just awful...is it supposed to taste like ass?

Because if so - then they did a good job - if not they screwed it up and I need to try a properly made french onion soup.

yeah, didn't you know ... it's alternate name is "ass soup."

do you dislike beef broth? because that's pretty much all it is ... beef broth, onions, croutons, cheese. i always use provolone, but sometimes people use swiss, and that's disgusting.

Ass soup...

Anyway - I don't mind beef broth - but I wasn't expecting it to be sweet - is it supposed to be sweet? That totally took me off guard and turned me off. I mean onions=good, cheese=good, croutons=good...so I thought I'd really like it - but alas it was sweet and weird tasting...

Ok. Good to know. Yeah. sweet...and disgusting. I ate maybe three bites...then they noticed I'd not eaten it and were very nice about it - they didn't charge me...though I never complained, nor did I ask not to be charged...so that was good of them...

What was not good of them was to serve me a big heaping bowl of poo.

I hate Ruby Tuesday's. I've never been happy with a meal there.

French Onion should not be sweet, and it should only be served with provolone.

I was never impressed with Ruby Tuesday's until I went to one in Rochester - they're really good in Rochester...

Then I went to one last week in my hometown (hell) and it was horrible. Just awful....so I will probably not go back to one, in general I don't eat at those chains anyway...but my mom and grandma LOVE them for some reason.

Anyway - well now I need to try french onion done right. Grr..

French Onion soup gags me, but I love Pho. Second only to Tom Kha - spicy thai coconut soup. Damn. Gotta get me some of that.

Yo, seconded. That **** is terrible. I made the mistake of having their chicken noodle one time when I was sick... Yeah, it didn't help. When it comes to canned soup, I stick with Baxters, although their stuff is pretty heavy, or Campbells, which tends to be too salty at times. There is no pleasing me.
