Bet you don't listen to a lot of other music besides the Mac, then?

On the contrary. I have a rather large extensive music catalogue. Over 600 CDs. My Dad had over 3,000 CDs and LPs that I had access to growing up. I have read and heard over the years about Fleetwood Mac being influences on certain bands. I think the Mac has a distinct sound, and out of my own semi-fountain of useless music knowledge (which has been acknowledged by other, much older fountains of useless music knowledge-ers) I cant think of anyone that has their sound...not even close.

I don't know how many titles I have in my collection (500-1000?), but I guess I just have different ones
![]() Check out Midlake's latest, the last cd from Death Cab for Cutie, and Field Music. The more I listen to them, the more they sound like the mac indeed. Their drummer especially! A song called Pieces, sounds like it belongs on Kiln House. |

How about The Magic Numbers? Has anyone discovered them yet? From the UK -- two guys and two girls -- 2 brother/sister combos. Nice three part harmonies. Somewhat Fleetwood-Macish. Most reviews, though, reference a Mamas & Papas influence.
I saw them live. Great, unusual band. Cool debut album.

I just started listening to them, thanks for the tip. Yeah, their harmony singing is a bit mac like perhaps. And generally a seventies sound. Like it

Sinai 48 is my band and we do sound a bit like the mac, mostly because the rhythm section is the same as Buckingham Nicks. Gary "Hoppy" Hodges is the drummer and Tom Moncrieff is the bassist. Our website is www.sinai48band.com and we have some samples. The Mac is a HUGE influence on us and you can hear quite a bit of it in there.

The Magic Numbers are big Mac fans: http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=21997 I'm just freaked out because I posted that thread almost two years ago! I was looking for it from just a couple of months back. That is too weird.

Yeah it was weird that a many year old thread would pop up. I found it when I googled the ledge, it was the first thread to pop up. I've never heard of the Magic Numbers. Do they have a website?
BTW I forgot to mention that LB was kind enough to put our band on his "friends/influences" site on his "links" page. Maybe if the magic numbers or other mac influenced bands ask Jessica Sneed at LB.com, they could get a link? |
