Who are you sending your letter to? Have you already sent it? Is there a corporate head office you could contact? I think you have a lot of good ideas but Im wondering if your letter will affect your promotion hopes? (Not that I think you dont have valid concerns because I do--its just that sometimes, the upper levels dont appreciate anyone lower down pointing out the flaws in the company or its managers.) Obviously you arent Union. Thats a shame IMO.
Somehow you need to get ahold of the policies and procedures as well as a salary comparison and your job specs. Then you could compare/contrast what IS being done with what SHOULD be done. Good Luck ![]() ps: you might want to edit your original post, you've duplicated the entire thing! |

my only suggestion would be that if you haven't already, perhaps you might want to try speaking to someone first about these concerns? your direct superior, maybe? a letter has a much more serious and permanent effect - ie. it will live in your file forever. and if management gets your letter out of the blue without prior knowledge of your concerns, it may not go down as well. you level many allegations and accusations in it. unfortunately, it may wind up having a negative effect not on the managers you fault, but you yourself.
just my 2 cents... realizing i know nothing about the business you're in. nor how long you want to work there.

sounds like you should find somewhere else to work!
as for the letter: cut it into thirds and delete two of them. i stopped reading after five minutes and was nowhere near the end. i assume the recipient is a busy person and may not take the time to actually read about your valid concerns if presented in such a lengthy format. if i were you, i would mail off a letter requesting a meeting to discuss ongoing problems at work and keep the details to a minimum - only stressing the importance of scheduling a meeting. at that meeting, i would focus on current issues. something that happened last year should have been addressed last year. and any information heard through a third party could very well be flawed and make you look like a gossip. JMO.

I tend to agree with xxxmx. Your letter is too long (although I did read the whole thing)... Many years ago I was told by a respected manager that a letter really should not go for any longer than one standard page... (otherwise the reader will lose interest)
I think that you obviously have issues that need to be addressed, but I think you sound very angry in that letter and it becomes long winded as one idea kicks off another issue which then kicks off another one etc.... I would take your letter and try to objectively summarise as much as you can. or start again. Maybe make a skeleton in point form and expand (not too much) on the points... eg. Your first paragraph about Management dishonesty... You start talking about the "package" and the fact that it went missing... you really outrightly accuse the manager of "stealing" the package. (are you sure!? that could be quite inflammatory) all the stuff in between about trying to contact your regional manager and not having one etc.. is really irrelevant to the issue that you are trying to address which is the "honesty". Then you describe what the package was but by that time.. the reader (myself) is a bit confused and it takes a little while to realise that you are talking about the contents of the package..(which is also irrelevant) or could have been mentioned at the beginning.. ie.you could have said... We found an envelope containing application papers for the Stellar Management programme which had been inadvertantly opened and then subsequently disappeared thereby denying my fellow employee an opportunity to further their skills. (I must say though that I think that it is not your place to discuss another employees career options or lack thereof.. it is their own responsibility) OMG I am being so longwinded here myself!!! I will therefore sum up: Work out the issues that are most important to you and try to not sound too accusatory.... I would definitely not send the current draft...(JMO) Good Luck.... I do think that you may be happier if you found another job, from personal experience usually once you are this angry, there is no other solution... cheers Sammi |
