Please add "never was" for Gilby.

Of course, I just realized something - I've seen the whole band live at one point or another! I've seen Metallica a few times, first being in 1989. GnR was in '91 (with Metallica, lol) and I believe Gilby was in the lineup at that point. I saw Crue too - probably 90 or so.

Loser. Teehee.

why this group needs a lead singer when Gilby, in the past, has competently sung lead for bands he was involved in (ie-KillForThrills).

Yeah, Gilby replaced Izzy Stradlin' in GNR in 1991 after Izzy left the band while on tour...And was fired around 1994. He is still friends w/W.Axl Rose.

Jason joined ME-Tallica ( ) after the death of Cliff Burton-"the major rager on the 4 string muthaf**ker".

As for Tommy Lee, Not to be taken in a racist way, but he wishes to be black (With all his contrived "Yo dawg" talk and hip-hop wannabe solo music). He has become a bigtime joke.

Sadly, Most metalheads think Supernova is a corporate joke that wont fly...More like a "never will" than "has-beens".

What they needed was $$, and a PR kickstart, which I guess is what the show is. There a re so many bands that are corporate constructions, metal and pop. My friend was in a metal band in the 80's that had some famous people in it (a parade of guitar virtuosos) and some guys they used to call the "company men". We watched Spinal tap with them one night, and not one of them found it funny, as they were big in Japan at the time.

watch Spinal Tap and not find it funny, that is a classic movie!!! The greatest rock & roll movie ever if ya ask me.

Big in Japan?? The band in question wouldnt have been Mr.Big would it? They were very corporate and had a big following in Japan.

No, Alcatrazz.
They didn't find it funny, because it was so real for them, they couldn't laugh at it, IMO.

I betcha one of the guitarist was Yngwie Malmsteen, who wouldnt find Spinal Tap humorous...But his replacement would, Steve Vai. Vai has a wicked sense of humor.

That's true. Actually, Graham Bonnet had a pretty good sense of humor too. I didn't know them all that well, but the drummer, Jan Uvena was an ex of my best friend, and we got to be good friends. I went and saw them rehearse at Ronnie James Dio's rehearsal space which was really funny (and very Spinal Tap) because there were all of these huge stage props of demons and hellish beasts in the airplane-hangar sized rehearsal space.
My friend and I went to some shows all dolled up, and that was pretty fun. Otherwise, it was sort of sad being around the aging rockers, about to be cut from their label. The guitarists were the only onces going anywhere. I was always in awe of Jan's drumming, and Graham's voice.
