Band Face Off - Finals 3

Tom Petty

No contest.

Edit: I forgot the why.

He's the first artist whose music I fell in love with and he has yet to disappoint. It started when I was eight years old and saw the video for "I Won't Back Down." He hasn't always topped my list of favorites - I've gone through a few phases when others have taken that title (Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac) - but he never falls far from the top and always climbs back up. Sure, there are a few songs that I'm not crazy about, but in 17 years of being a fan, I still have not found a Petty song that I dislike.

I love almost ALL Tom Petty music and have seen him a couple of times in concert. I do like Prince a lot too, but it's really no contest.

Not easy, but I went with my man Bowie.

Of course it is Bowie - Petty sucks ass compared to Bowie's genius

You really are a fool.

No worries, though. Bowie doesn't stand a chance against Petty.

As much as I love Petty - and you know I do - I adore Bowie. He is my second favourite artist after Stevie......

Hardest choice yet. I keep reminding myself, it's who I LIKE most, not who I think has had the greatest impact on music, or who is more talented, or whatever.

I went with Petty. I can't think of a song that I don't like. Johnny Cash was my other choice, but I've just been getting more into him lately & don't feel qualified to really judge his music yet. Prince - I don't really get into his more recent work, although his 80's stuff remains great.
