That's the big pre-tour cover story, strand. I'm thinking of the concert reviews. I can't think of a negative review of Stevie in a major publication before the Madison Square Garden gig.

How strange that they'd describe the mellow, wistful voice singing "Rhiannon" and "Landslide" on that album, as being "callow" and "raucous."

I know - I do not get that. I always thought they were refering to La Nicks' sometimes outof conrol stage voice.

I thought her vocals on the white album were callow before I became a big fan & adapted to stevie's unique voice.

I think Rhiannon was much to complex to be immature sounding.

Landslide on the other hand, does sound slightly immature because her voice sounds so whistful and youthful. But, I am unsure that effect was not desired.

I think the specific "callow" quality noted by the RS reviewer in 1975 was the slightly Bonnie Tylerish gin wobble in the back of Stevie's throat. i don't know where that came from--she didn't do it on her 1973 album & she didn't do it on Rumours in 1977. It sounded sorta like an older gal with throat cancer.

But wouldn't that be considered "weathered" rather than "callow"? When I think "callow," I think of some of Sheryl Crow's early vocals, where her voice seems thin and reedy.

Naw, I think "callow" & "raucous" describe it. when she drops down to a lower decibel (like on landslide or the verses on rhiannon), she loses some punch. it's like half of her vocal cords are working at that point. I think she was tired the day(s) she recorded those vocals. She had probably been yelling at keith olsen the whole day & then tried to track a vocal.

Personally, I think she was talking about other dreams. Nothing musically related at all. His dreams will end up being dreams of loneliness that will drive him mad. Definitely something personal.

You see, I think there was more to the Stevie dumped Lindsey story. Both in Dreams and in Silver Springs she makes it sound as if it was him that was leaving her. I don't think it was all that crystal clear that she walked out on him, I think it was a collision of a lot of factors and they just stopped existing as a couple, which got drawn out endlessly. She might have walked away after a fight or something, but I don't they they ever sat down with Stevie telling Lindsey, 'it's over, bye bye'.

Storms on the other hand............i think it had elements of both mick & lindsey, the end i like is totally about Lindsey
