Dee, if you show up wearing gauchos, a tube top sans bra, carrying one of those quilted fabric bags & $3 drugstore flipflops with long toenails, I'm not going anywhere with you.

This is the latest fad? News to me. I haven't seen throngs of people doing this yet .

More Tacky Things:

trucker hats
greasy, unwashed, unkempt hair
wearing pajamas (bottoms, tops, house shoes, whatever) out in public
wearing a bathing suit that is ill-fitting or too small
tanning bed tans
bleached, white-blonde hair (and especially with tanning bed tan)
buttcracks

I second that! And especially when they're wearing flip-flops!

My first thought is always "lazy!" I am sure I am not the only one who thinks that so not a good impression to make when it really doesn't take much to pick-up the feet. Unless, of course, someone is disabled.

I think we're getting away from what's exactly "tacky"

I wear flip flops, Uggs and capris - not all the time, but I do wear them. I usually wear my Uggs just around the house and outside, especially in the winter, but I wear flip flops a lot...not $2 flip flops...$40 flip flops. I don't care what anyone says, they are cute...especially with my capris. so there.

Hmmm..is this thread starting to wear your self esteem down as well

I don't care if they're ugly - when it snows three feet uggs (and variations thereof) are quite handy!

I agree, and so can capris!

Flip-flops can be cute too if worn in the right context. And also, look, if you live in a climate (like I do) that is 100 degrees with 80% humidity from about June-October you'll be wearing yourself some flip-flops once in a while. It's HOT out there people, I refuse to wear socks!

I really wear leather sandals more than anything in the summer, but I'm not opposed to flip-flops if they're cute and resemble real shoes more than shower shoes. And that's the thing, it's all about degrees of flip-flopness, some are really cheap and fugly whereas others can be really cute and stylish .

never. I could give a rip. if I was wearing stonewashed jeans I'd feel like a lame ass moron, but just because some people don't like what's currently quote in style unquote, it's just a matter of taste. I hate shrugs, but that doesn't make them tacky.

well, we're lucky if we get snow flurries, but they are good to have around to take the trash out or walk to dogs or run around the house (I'm never barefoot...I always have something on my feet.)

Good for you!! I'm starting to rethink some of my fashion choices Kidding - like I said before, if you're comfy in something then go for it (as long as it doesn't cross any truly tacky/indecent lines).
