Punkers Mock Rhiannon on "Live"

I've had this tape for a million years. Does anyone know who these punkers are, or where this is from? I think it's a hoot. These guys have obviously listened to & learned well the version of Rhiannon on the "FM Live" album because they duplicate it measure by measure in their own inimitable way. The shrieking vocals & the splattering, grinding guitars & the overall can-it clumsiness seem to me a brilliant deconstruction (I promised myself I would never use that word in a context like this) of the Mac & Stevie. I guess you'll find it either funny, not funny, or boring.

This is something I recently transferred to CD, and thought it was hilarious and scary at the same time. The band is Sore Throat (fitting), from the UK. One site states they did an album in '79, but I've also found one from 1990. Someone on a message board looking for this version of Rhiannon said that it was actually a live version, and not an album release. I know, not much info there, but trying to find any is almost impossible.

Thanks, Lisa! I think we can rule out the 1979 album. What's so interesting about this recording to me is just how amusingly it sets out to mimic the Mac performance of "Rhiannon" on their 1980 live album. It's pure punk parody: a broadside swat at the bloated back end of Fleetwood Mac--& yet there's a little bit of admiration there, too.

Interesting info you heard about its being a live performance. The track here is definitely played all at once, in the live manner--the way most punks recorded--but as to whether it's live in a studio environment or live on an actual concert stage in front of an audience, I couldn't say.

I think it's more than just funny. It's musically interesting. It overdrives every aspect of the song although all the vocal emotion is going through the drain ofcourse. Speaking about deconstruction, have you ever enjoyed Dougal Reed's deconstruction of the complete rumours-album? I LOVE that one. It's actually alot better than CVB's Tusk, which I like too.
