I thought all three were deserving to be in the finals of AI, but figured Elliott might be the one going home. It was wonderful to see the home town support for Taylor and Elliott. Katharine doesn't have a small knit community behind her like one finds in the south; but clearly she equal amounts of support around the country. It's LA. Stevie, Lindsey and others in the community had other plans that day rather than hang out on the street corners for "Kat." LA must roll it's eyes at all of this, when they live in a world of people clammoring, struggling, waiting tables, trying to sell their talent and songs every day, the hard way. And these people write their own songs and music. American Idol brings in "star wannabees" and fashions them into "idols." LA: "'the people out there turn the music into gold." American Idol? The show prides itself in fashioning a "golden calf" for the people to worship and hope you'll buy it, because you think you are a part of the process.

Still, I think Katharine has the best voice of the final two, but Taylor can surely dazzle with his funky dancing where his voice isn't number one. He has a decent voice, clearly. He's the bigger entertainer of the two. Yet I give Katharine the edge voice wise in terms of versatility and marketability.

What's American Idol about? The best voice? The best entertainer? The best look? Who can sell the most albums? Who is the most popular in America? If you can answer those with certainty, you probably already know who will win next week. Meanwhile, I've got my crystal ball, my tea leaves, my little bag of old bones to shake around ... and I'll be voting. I'll be voting for Katharine. I suspect I'm going for the underdog. We'll all wait and see who becomes the next golden calf.
