Through Tusk, Live, and Mirage, I was the biggest FM fan in the world. Bella Donna came along(which, btw, I think is a MASTERPIECE), and my love for Stevie really blossomed. I saw the Wild Heart tour, and RAL tour. Wild Heart was a damned good album, although still not a BD. RAL, well, just didn't quite do it for me. The songs were kinda bland, as was now her singing range, BUT, I forgave her an album that was "so-so". Well, the OSOTM comes along........sh*tty songs, and her singing range is reduced to this vocally lethargic molasses. A performer who I once considered GREAT, well, I was now kind of ashamed of. She dropped the ball. It's no coincidence that each solo album sold about half of what the previous effort had. The quality was obviously diminishing(except for the hearing impaired). I was done with her now, as (honestly), I found her quite boring now....

Well, in the late 80s and early 90s, I drifted away from FM. I'd still buy BTM, and whatever came out(not anything by Stevie, OSOTM created a moratorium on my Stevie wallet-BTW- I'd like a refund from Stevie for OSOTM- seriously!). Well, during these years, when I'd listen to FM, I now had a much greater appreciation for Christine and Lindsey. His production, and her voice. Her more rocking songs(Think About Me, Hold Me, YMLF, Don't Stop, Little Lies, ALAYF) are the absolute ESSENCE of Fleetwood Mac. They are the songs which best represent the GROUP as a whole.
Lindsey's songs sound like solo songs, as do Stevie's. Christine's songs sound like a group effort.
For me, Christine IS Fleetwood Mac.
Wow. I never would have guessed that you were ever a Stevie fan, although now that I think about it, it makes sense. No wonder you're such a big Stevie detractor, you're a "burned" fan . It's different I guess for those of us who were too young to have gone through all the F.M. stages and incarnations over a long, drawn out period of time. When I became a fan, I had all of the albums at my fingertips so my experience was a mass, uninterupted kind of experience with no lull or time between albums to really notice that huge of a difference. I didn't get to live their history in real time so I wasn't able to have that kind of perspective, I sometimes wish I had.

I'm starting to kind of re-discover Chris. I bought some of her pre-F.M. stuff at a record convention years ago but never seriously listened to it. I'm going to give it another listen as soon as I fix my record player.

Yeah, 'cause the guy still can't stop talking about her!

Love ya, Homie.

Dude, no. I keep getting stoned every week before it's on, so that when they are F-ING WITH ME, I am convinced that it's my delusion alone.

I'm pretty worried about the direction the show's going, especially with the news that the Palladinos will NOT be back next year running the show. I can't believe next week is already the finale- it seems like nothing's happened! The show is going to be a DREAM though for all indie rock geeks like me, with appearances from Grant Lee Phillips, Sam Phillips, Thurston Moore & Kim Gordon and their daughter, Joe Pernice, Sparks, and Mary Lynn Rajskub or however you spell her name (Chloe on 24). I guess troubadours are overrunning the town!!

Wow that is some list! Kim Gordon and Thuston Moore were on the show too? I remember being extremely impressed when Rory mentioned Slint in Season Two.
I'm about three seasons behind you guys, so I have all this to look forward to.

Oh wow, you like Slint too? I don't know ANYONE who likes them (besides my husband). Don't you just love Spiderland? Good Morning, Captain is one of my favorite songs of all time.

So my question for you is: Do you know whatever happened to them?

Spiderland is one of my favourite albums of all time!

They split up in 1994 but got back together last year and I saw them when they played London. They looked a lot older but sounded incredible. I really never thought I'd ever get to see them live. The closest I ever got before that was seeing The For Carnation (singer/guitarist Brian McMahan's band) a few years back.
Guitarist David Pajo's work as Papa M is pretty good too btw.

They will be on the next episode, which is the finale of the sixth season. I guess Kim & Thurston are going to be on, singing a song with their daughter Coco. How precious is that?

The music on the show is incredible- Sparks, XTC, Claudine Longet, Super Furry Animals. They always play stuff before it becomes too huge. They were playing a lot of Libertines and Franz before they hit in the states. I really love the music on the show.

This question is for Brian, Estranged4life

What do you consider the best brand of blank CDs and DVDs and where do you buy them from?

Cd's-Tie: Maxell (Made in Japan ONLY!!!) Available at Welfare-Mart, I mean Wally World & other retailers who dont suck as much ass as Wal-Mart

Samsung Pleomax CDR's, Available from musiciansfriend.com (25 pack spindle for about $7.99)

DVD's-Any brand (ie-Imation, Maxell, Memorex) except SONY & Fujifilm-Odd that SONY DVD's suck whenever I had to use 'em & Fujifilm's seem to freeze up in my burner whenever I finalize the disc into DVD-V mode.

Thanks for asking! Yes, I have. And it really sucks. One of my best friends talked me into going on match, which is more like a meat market, but I have talked to some interesting people on there. I finally went and met one who seemed pretty normal. Actually, he was a really nice guy, but, I am pretty paranoid about certin things, and he didn't yet need to know my home phone number or my address. (he had my cell) Anyhow, he works for our local cable company, and he went and looked up my exact address, and went on to tell me that "oh! I know exactly where you live..." Well, that freaked me out, and after I kindly told him I didn't appreciate it, I havent' spoke to him since. I've been out a few times with others, some just once, and then, there was one I talked to for a little while. No one has really "done it" for me yet, though. And I'm really in no big hurry, either. I've gotten quite comfortable where I'm at.
