She talks about how Rooms On Fire was a fantasy of hers (basically being rescued from loneliness from a "magical" chance encounter with a perfect man), during the infamous Anne Nightingale interview. She sounded hopeful she would meet a special person who would make her want to give up her career, marry her and have a child with her. It was a major theme of her interviews back in 1989. I think the lyrics convey perfectly what Stevie was going through at that time. They're pretty flowery, but then I think Stevie was just as hazy and spaced out as the production on TOSOTM those days.

I think ROF is absolutely flawless. I remember when it first came out, I was a fairly new Stevie fan and they played around the same time every day. I would listen to it in my car on the way home from work and just adore it. I love the music but the lyrics are some of my favorite by her..."She dreamed of her wanton luxury...and she laughed and she cried and she tried to taunt him..."

I love this song. It's the song that introduced me to Stevie Nicks. I'm sure I'd heard songs like Dreams and Talk To Me but this was the first time I actually knew who she was.

I love the lines:

"She dreamed of her wanton luxury
And she laughed and she cried...and she tried to taunt him
And he hated to be separated...
From that picture...No..."

The way she sings that verse is just gorgeous.

I remember seeing the video as a child and I always thought of it as "the red video"

Stevie loves to grow her own citrus. She enjoys grafting different types of citrus together into one tree, so she gets limons & lemonoranges & raisonfruits, which she uses for sauces.

It's amazing what Stevie can do with the work of Oscar Wilde. I keep finding more of his words during the Mirror era than Stevie's.

Rooms on fire seems to be the ONLY song that people who are not familiar with SN know OR the only song that people who do not like stevie nicks dont mind.

I think that's true only for you. Rooms On Fire was a big hit in Australia. Bigger than the US. Course you have way less peeps in your country.

I find the complete opposite with your findings. Here, most casual listeners know Leather & Lace or Stop Draggin' My Heart Around.

That is true..Rooms On Fire came and went out here in the U.S.

I'm too tired to type a long winded response so I'll just say it's my favorite song that Stevie did not write all by herself (she co-wrote it with R. Nowels) and that's saying a lot. It's one of her best songs ever, it's a legacy, it's a masterpiece, it's Stevie to the core.
