Do you rewind, pause, and frame advance the nude stair scene in Red Dragon

So who didn't know that they'd give the "Best Picture" award to any nominee other than 'Brokeback Mountain'?

A realistic portrayal of the inner and outer turmoil experienced by two men struggling with their love for each other as it stands in stark opposition to the rigid societal expectations of what it means to be a "man"?? In our current political climate, I'd have eaten my hat if it had won.

With all the talk of "Liberal Hollywood," the people casting their votes for the Oscar Awards aren't truly progressive. They played it as safe as possible while trying to appear as if they're actually forward-thinkers.

I thought it would win

Also, when you say "they" who do you mean? I get confused by this because it is thousands of people voting and surely they are not all in on the conspiracy? I am asking without being hateful - but I really do not understand it because people speak of "them" and "they" as if they are Borg listening to and speaking with the one mind.

I'm not a Conspiracy Theorist. My use of "they" refers to each individual voting member of the academy, viewed as a collective... since I don't know 'em by name!

I think they had a chance to really say something with their votes, but they flinched. Or at least the majority of them did.

Well what is there, about 6000 members? I'm sure there was a good spread amongst the voters. A lot of these people move in the same circles and no doubt openly discuss the nominations. But even if the whole voting process is democratic it doesn't mean to say the counting is. How many people actually have access to the results? That's what I would like to know.

I'm not the world's greatest conspiracy theorist but I thought to myself, could a voting system be manipulated to change the outcome of a result in America? And then I remembered who was in the White House and how he got there....

Speaking of Gloria Stuart, she was who's next door neighbor in the 90's?
