HMMM..

#1 Stevie loves to perpetuate her own myths as much as her fans do!

#2 Stevie has a real fear of intimacy and has used her Rock N Roll Lifestyle monologues as an excuse to not deal with that.

#3 Stevie loves to hear herself talk.

#4 A bit of a Drama Queen.

#5 I wanted to throw myself out a window when I heard "When I See You Again"..I was secretly horrified by her vocals on Tango.

#6 Her vocals on Cry Wolf & Docklands make me cringe.

#7 My favorite era is anything Pre Rock A Little.

#8 Her best vocals lately were I Miss You..It's Only Love on TISL.

#9 Illume is here best work with FM in years!

#10 Her long stringy hair is unflattering! Best Hair is 79-83!

#11 She has a major fear of failure!

#12 If I hear her say "we had NO IDEA drugs were dangerous back then"...one more time..I AM GOING TO SCREAM!!! LOL!!!

#13 The Reeboks are just silly and need to go!

#14 Rupert Hine was the love of her life.

#15 Mick was really about the sex.

#16 Is afraid to do another solo project as her sales have dropped with every release. She equates that as failure.

#17 Lindsey loved her more than she ever loved him.

#18 Stevie is really at peace with her father's passing.

#19 I liked BEHIND THE MASK!

#20 I prefer original Silver Springs.

Hmm. I agree with the person that said that Stevie tends to "borrow" a little more from other musicians than she may be aware or let on. Especially Illume. That is a complete and blatant rip off of "New York" by Richard Ashcroft. I mean, IDENTICAL. I had a friend who pointed it out and played it for me and my heart just sank...oh Stevie.

Also I think she's pretty self indulgent, particularly with the importance of her writing. Didja catch all that "I didn't sleep, but I wrote 4 songs" on the DR doc? She only mentioned it, like 1000 times! I find that more humourous than anything though.

My unpopular opinions:

*Stevie got better looking as she got older.

*The Tango/80s big hair and outlandish outfits made her look hot.

*The Nightmare, Welcome To The Room...Sara, When I See You Again and Two Kinds Of Love are all great songs.

*She's lying when she says she didn't know cocaine was dangerous.

*Rhiannon and especially Gold Dust Woman need to be permanently dropped from her solo sets.

*Stand Back should only be performed with FM.

I agree with all of that! Except for the Tango hair... That was just uncool. Way too fried and frizzed to the extreme, like her Tusk hair. It looked damaged and unhealthy a lot of the time. Everything else, yes. I like Welcome To The Room, and When I See You Again.

I think she had to have known that coke was dangerous. How could she not? Granted it was the 70s, and that **** was all over the place, she still had to have known that it wasn't good for her. That's like smoking and drinking, and then being surprised when you get cancer or liver failure.

I am so
sick
of
Rhiannon!

Especially the way she does it now. Booooring.

Yeah, and apparently, she had been "writing . . . like a maniac" too!

Please.

Go back and look at the actual "Say You Will" album.

1.) Illume has already been mentioned - very important and serious song, but I guess she "borrowed" it from another writer.

2.) Thrown Down. k, I'll give her this one.

3.) Say You Will - i.m.o., this was written with the sole intent of having a single to release to get radio time to promote the entire album. I like it, and it's a catchy, fun song, but let's face it, someone with Stevie's talent could have written this one on the back of a paper bag at lunchtime... And look at the actual lyrics - there's two short verses and one catchy chorus which is repeated over and over; that's the entire song.

4.) Smile at You - this is an old, old song that she wrote way back in the late '70s.

5.) Running Through the Garden - I definitely give her this one, and I consider it brilliant. I think it sorta "refers back" to an earlier 1980s song called "Gate and Garden," too.

6.) Silver Girl - k, I'll give her that, too.

7.) Everybody Finds Out - k, yeah, I'll give'er that. I think it's another brilliant one, actually.

8.) Destiny Rules - k, I'll give her this, too. I like it, at least. The peak of her career? That I'm not so sure of.

9.) Goodbye Baby - she wrote this as "The Tower" back in 1979 or so.

That's six songs that she wrote recently that ended up on the album, at least one of which was well below her ability level. Lets say she had started a year beforehand - although the last real FM album was - what - 1990? That had four of her songs, none of which were hits. Can you name one of them?
Six songs in, say, one year is not "writing like a maniac," and it's not the kind of output you would expect a "prolific" songwriter to have.

And so - not putting her down here but - another "unpopular opinion" that I have is -

Stevie tells "little white lies" sometimes, and has absolutely no qualms about it. But, although she doesn't realize this -

she's not very good at it. It's usually pretty obvious when she's fibbin'. She doesn't quite realize that, though....

Didn't KNOW that! K, so that's 5 new songs on the album, that she wrote in, say, one year, and one of those songs had 2 verses and a simple chorus which was repeated over and over.

I'm LOVING this thread, though!

I'm still gobsmacked that people have intuitive feelings that Stevie did it with women. I mean..what Planet do you people live on that can so freely believe something so ridiculous? OMG...she is the most horny hetero out there. Stop watching The L Word, guys. My intuitive feeling is that she is into men and only men, and her girlfriends are her spiritual support. If you think every woman with good GF's is a lesbian - than you're have a very interesting imagination, indeed.

OMG THANK YOU!!! BOOTS!!! Not that all us hetero women don't consider her gorgeous ...But...even if in some "Parallel Universe" she DID cross over once...Real fans still wouldn't care. But yes...stop watching "The L Word" and get in touch with Stevie's sexuality...look at how she dances on stage!! Look at how she describes Mick and Lindsay...and I believe in a recent Aussie(?) article she states how "Lindsay's children are beautiful like their father"....I think she has dreams or "crystal" (eh hem) visions of him every now and then...maybe even very often..and ....well...we KNOW she must also have dreams about "The great dark wing" [/B] I'm an English Literature teacher so of course I will take this to that level

None of this makes any sense. I (a gay man) have my intuitive feelings and you have yours.

What is so ridiculous about Stevie doing it with a woman?? I also find it interesting that some are so freaked out by this that they must make numerous posts to insist it's not true.

My belief that Stevie has had a relationship with a woman has nothing to do with the fact that she has good GF's.

I also never said she was a lesbian. Having a relationship with a woman during your lifetime doesn't make you a lesbian.

Seems like a lot of education is needed, but I have no interest in diverting the purpose of this thread. The question is what are your unpopular Stevie opinions. Mine is that she has had a relationship with a woman.

Deal with it.

i don't think the idea that stevie could have slept with a woman is ridiculous; and as a gay woman, i certainly am not freaked out by the possibility! what i DO find ridiculous, though, is the endless speculation surrounding who and when and relationships and stuff like that. i hate when homosexuality is viewed as a novelty. and i'm not saying you are treating it that way - but overall, that is the vibe from these kinds of discussions.

anyway, back to the topic at hand ... lol. another unpopular stevie opinion of mine is that ... actually, i can't think of one right now.
