[Jyqm]

Here's something I wrote just now:

Insomnia

In the kitchen, hollow-heavy eyes
burn—the world glows grey
again.

Out the window, charcoal birch trees
watch again—and thick-tongued dirt
digs deep into ash-mouthed skin—
and fog-caked hair

East across the still steel lake—which hums,
the mountain defines itself
line by line—
draws itself
against the blue dispersing haze—
as yesterday’s

—and down unceasing pulsing alleys scratched
scratched record birdsong
echoes—I wish that it were night
—again.
