I don't think it's a joke. People slip through the cracks all the time....Britney Spears....Ashlee Simpson. It's real life. Some people who have great talent send in demos to record producers and get thrown away. Others, like Simpson, just have to say "My daddy is a producer and my sister is a star" and get a record deal. It sucks, but that's life.

And how about that loon that made it through at the end of the show? Simon. was. pissed.
Ugh. I think that's so unfair. Not only should they not be allowed to audition together, they shouldn't be allowed to sing together either.

That crackhead getting through almost makes me not want to watch this show anymore. So what? They axe all those other horrible people and pick this guy? Why? I guess they think he'll bring in ratings. Whatever .

I also thought it was mean that they brought in poor-man's Paris Hilton's mother to the audition room to humiliate her. Poor form folks. Poor form.

How true.....especially in this day and time, it's more about looks/sexuality than actual talent. Which, there is nothing wrong with having looks or showing off your sexuality...but please have some talent to back it up with.

Ashlee Simpson doesn't have either if you ask me.

Somehow I don't think she was humiliated?

I think....comic relief. At least that's what it looks like Paula and Randy had in mind when they put him through.

No, that's not what I meant. I wasn't clear. The show is a show, it's a spectacle. "joke" = funny, hoot, wack, out of control

I understand what you mean about people slipping through the cracks.

Well of course she is too dense to understand that they were trying to humiliate her (or maybe she wasn't, I don't know). Simon should have left it alone, and while we're on the subject of these two, enough already about the girl's tan. Can we eat up more time talking about her stupid tan? Yes, it's stupid, it looks horrible, but do we need to spend 10 minutes talking about how bad it looks? Not only was it dumb on Simon's part, but it was mindnumbing as well. I didn't know I had this much rant in me today!

the part that really ticked me off was when he made the comment about needing a bigger stage for the girl that sang (and sounded awesome)...I couldn't believe it. And Paula's ass should have stood up for her more and not grinned so stupid since she has dealt with eating disorders.

Agreed. I'm glad the woman didn't hear him at the time, but you know she watched it on TV last night. That was beyond rude.

I love this friggin' show.

Right, but not only that- it seems as though mother/daughter take great pride in how they look. But I agree, it was stupid on Simon's part. The whole thing is stupid, but I love it.

The highlights of the show were first off Crystal (the tan girl). Her singing is the funniest thing I've ever heard but her stupidity is what really got me. Is she for real or just playing a character? At the end when she was singing Lady Marmalade I was simply dying! I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt.

The girl from the Ukraine was my next favorite. I'm so glad they let her go for as long as they did. Those movements, OMG absolutely f*ucking hilarious! And Paula got all into it and took her jacket off and said she was sexy. I love how she messed up the lyrics too and those words with that accent were classic!

As far as the crazy guy getting through, it was obviously for entertainment purposes. I highly doubt they truly believe he has talent. It's TV and crazy people = ratings.
