I just woke up from a dream I had about Stevie. I wrote about it in my journal and thought you guys would like to read it. Here is how it went...
I just had the strangest dream. I dreamed that I spent the day with Stevie Nicks. She was in rehearsals with Fleetwood Mac and I somehow ended up in a hotel room with her while she was doing some mundane tasks. Lindsay Buckingham was there, being really snide with her about something and Mick Fleetwood and I had talked a little. Then Stevie had to go across the street and talk to a guy about some legal matter and she asked if I wanted to tag along. He was some sort of record exec or lawyer and he had a bed in his office. I asked him a question and he gave me a his name and number to contact him if I should need further help. I wrote it down with a pen sitting on a table in the office and I noticed that the pen had his name and number on it and it occurred to me that I should just take the pen. Then we went back to the hotel room they were rehearsing in and Christine McVie was there. I tried to say hi to her but she was walking into the bedroom and I didn't get a chance to. I was sitting there when Stevie, Lindsay and Christine started to jam in the bedroom. I was going to go watch but I did not want to get in the way. I started to feel like I was wearing out my welcome and told Mick that I was going to go when he asked me to wait a moment. He pulled out this little yellow book with writing in it and handed it to me. He told me he would like for me to write a specific phrase in the book, I don't remember what it was now, and to write it in whatever language or style I wanted. I was then supposed to pass the book on to someone else when I was done with the idea that the last person mail it back to him. Then he gave me ten dollars to cover shipping. I paged through the book and saw the phrase in many differnt forms of script and handwriting and at the end is an address to mail it to. I thanked him and then took a peek into the bedroom to see if they were done playing. They were still at it so I waved to Stevie and while she was still singing she waved back to me and smiled. I left and went back to my car, thinking about how I had to call my sister and tell her that I had just spent the day with Stevie Nicks. The thing that struck me as funny about this dream is the way I reacted to Stevie. I used to work in a famous Hollywood Hotel and when interacting with the celebrities I would simply act like they were everyday ordinary people, because deep down they really are. That was my job and we were told to do that, but what I found working there was that I had many more opportunities to have nice conversations with them when I would talk to them as people, rather than acting like some crazed fan. I would see other people in the hotel ask for autographs or gloat about how much they liked their last movie but I would just be polite and pretend like I didn't even know who they were and I could tell the distinct difference in the way they acted around me and the people who were in "fan" mode. People who acted like fans prompted the guests to go into "celebrity" mode and it was a very bland interaction. "I loved your movie... thank you that's very kind... can I have your autograph... of course.... blah blah blah", whereas I actually got into some very nice conversations with people I had admired over the years. And in my dream, that's exactly how I acted. I didn't go all crazy like a crazed fan, I just put myself in the mindset that I was hanging out with someone I knew, like a friend of a friend or an acquaintance I made at a party somewhere, and took it from there. I think I would do the same if I ever did meet Stevie in person. So far in my life she is the only person that I've wanted to meet that I have not been able to, so I'm pretty fortunate even if I never get to. |

That was great... I wouldn't want to wake up from that! I liked the fact that they were rehearsing in a hotel room, that's funny!
