As a straight male, I gotta say, I really don't notice all that much of it. It shows up in a few threads here and there, but I don't think it's incredibly "dominant."

Ah, more controversy! I'd forgotten how important it is to walk on eggshells when talking about certain topics, lest it be misconstrued in any way.

Where's the controversy? One or two people commented on your post and disagreed somewhat. Such things tend to happen on public message boards where people have different opinions.

I consider this controversy. Sorry my word choice displeases you.

Well, I realize this thread has become quite heated, but I think if we just take a deep breath and duck our heads and think happy thoughts, we might be able to dodge the bullets and razor blades being thrown about. Then, when the meanies are out of ammo, that's when we hit 'em with a good old-fashioned Care Bear stare!

This is heated and controversial ?

Hm. Seems pretty tame to me.

I, for one, didn't really participate in said coming out party. And I agree that the reason brwn_eyes is not getting in arguments anymore is that he decided to stop participating in political discussions. Does his newly acknowledged orientation give him more to talk about with the many gay guys here ? Yup. I don't know that sexual banter equals popularity - whatever constitutes popularity on a message board I can't really define. I can say for myself that I do not automatically like people because they are gay. It may provide a small amount of common ground when discussing some issues, but I don't like gay people more than straight people. I think my hetero friends outnumber the homos by a ratio of about 5 to 1. Many homos annoy the piss outta me. For a number of reasons that don't even apply to breeders.

I've never understood why some people support certain groups that not only don't represent or support them in any way, but also denounce their lifestyles as subhuman (gay marriage ban). Nope, it doesn't make any sense to me.

Yawn.

I knew that no matter what way I worded my post, that this would be the tone of the response.

I love it.

And as commentary on the subject of Brandon's sudden popularity or the perception that he is suddenly popular, I have to point out that those who continued to be critical were thought of as unkind and criticized themselves, and so it's something of a catch 22.
