Jackson Browne has consistently denied ever assaulting Darryl Hannah, and the Santa Monica Police Department, which investigated the claims, agrees that the incident never happened.

Two years ago, Jackson Browne also sued the producers of a TV movie about the life of John F. Kennedy Jr. which made reference to him beating Darryl Hannah. The producers agreed to cut the scenes.

Around the same time, he also sued VH1 for airing a program which mentioned the alleged incident. VH1 dropped the corresponding footage and issued an apology.
