Oh, Christy, the first time I saw it, I could barely get it out of my mind enough to sleep that night. The last half hour of that movie hits you like a ton of bricks. If anyone ever decides to pick it up at the video store, DON'T read about it beforehand because it will spoil the climax terribly. I saw it with a friend who picked it up and I had no idea what it was about, and was pleasantly horrified and revolted.

Yes. It's a Japanese movie. A little slow going at first, but stick with it. It won't disappoint you.

Battle Royale is another Japanese movie that freaked me out big time, but that's not an easy one to find because I don't think it was ever released on DVD here.

They make some f*cked up movies over there.

Wasn't Lena Olin incredible in it? I was blown away.
I know what you mean, lot's of people do not like it. It is much more character driven...but I really enjoy watching it. Love the whole book mystery and search. I enjoyed the second half. To each his own though!

As for 'Death and The Maiden,' I have only seen the stage production. I need to rent that film. The cast is brilliant. I'm surprised I have yet to explore this film. Glad to hear it is a masterpiece.

I mentioned Saw, too. I'm going to go to the sequel on Halloween. I haven't been really afraid during a movie in a long time. Saw II will probably do the trick though.

Oh, she definitely was. Did you ever see Romeo Is Bleeding? She gives such an insane, manic, and filthy performance in that one. Definitely one of the greatest female villains I've ever seen in a movie. Just brilliant.

Ooh, it's so good. You'll probably love it. I'll never understand why it was panned so badly when it was released. Sigourney Weaver is a fantastic actress, but she outdid herself in that one.

I am rarely scared during a movie, but I watched most of Saw peeking through my fingers curled up on my couch.

I read that the sequel is even more gruesome than the first and shockingly good for a sequel.

Saw is a great idea and story. Nice ending too.

My only problem with it was the acting was kinda bad. Really bad. Leigh Whannell and Cary Elwes were laughable at some points.

"Joy Ride" with Paul Walker (from the Fast and the Furious) is a real ride! It's about a psychotic killer truck driver chasing three young people on a road trip after they befriended him on the CB. It's a hoot!

After seeing Saw, I can hardly even muster up the audacity to call Elwes an "actor." Christ, I've seen better performances from Pia Zadora.
