The saddest part is that there are millions of people who do truly believe, and would agree with, the things that ol' "Rosie" says.

I feel exactly as you do, Nancy, perhaps for some slightly different reasons, but over all the same. I didn't take it as lightly as others did, either, and I didn't think it was funny, and I didn't think it was fun, and I thought it was sick, as you said.

I'm sure there are some, but millions? Hardly.

With there being a quarter of a billion people in the US, I'd say "millions" is a reasonable estimate.

If only "some" people shared the opinions expressed by rose.gypsy regarding homosexuality and morality, for example, then gays and lesbians wouldn't have to fight so hard for basic civil rights, and we wouldn't have to constantly hear politicians and religious leaders unapologetically calling us "sinners," "abominations," and other lovely things like that.

If there aren't millions of people who agree with the above judgements, then I want to know why there aren't more people refusing to vote for the politicians (and presidential candidates) who do.

Well, tens of millions voted not to extend rights to gay people who want to marry. Clearly it is fair to say that at least 5-10% of them did it because they think all gay people are sinners and are going to Hell, which is basic believe of every major organized form of Judeao Christianty Personally, I think it is more like 50 percent of those voters.

Totally - I mean almost everyone realizes W lied to get us into a war and yet he opposes gays so they reelect him - I mean that is pretty powerful.

Isn't the real point here that r.g. was being a super creepy a-hole? I didn't think any part of the point was who didn't agree with It.

I went out to eat last night and when I came out, I was approached by a black woman who asked if I wanted to sign a petition "to keep marriage between a man and a woman." You do not want to know what I said to her.

At first, I thought it was Althea Garrison, Massachusetts' very own resident nutbag who, amazingly, was elected to office in the early nineties. Just Google her, I'm sure something wacky will come up.

Certainly the person's antics are undoubtedly idiotic, and Nancy's most likely correct in her assumption that whomever the troll really is, they probably don't believe a word of what they're saying, and are simply trying to rile people up.

My point was simply that, phony agenda or not, there are certainly more than enough people who would agree with the statements made by "Rosie." And I highly doubt that they're all liberals just out to make conservatives look bad.

I asked her if she would appreciate it if I approached strangers and asked them to sign petitions that would bar blacks from drinking at the same water fountains as whites, all in the name of God. I wasn't rude about it, I just asked her straight up. She didn't appreciate it very much and told me a simple yes or no would have been sufficient.

I have not thought of her in many years - what a bi*ch

As for what you said to her, I hope it contained at least one finger snap and a heartfelt "PISS OFF" - meant in the kindest way possible

Actually, I would like to know what you said to her!

She certainly would have gotten an earful from me, that's for sure. Though I would have been calm and respectful the entire time.
I don't like to play into the reasonings behind people's prejudices.
