Default US Festival performance appreciation

I'm sure most of you have seen Stevie's US Festival concert a million times, but until yesterday I had only seen a few songs. I now have a DVD of the entire show.

I have to say this is a remarkable performance by Stevie, maybe one of the best I've ever seen! She is so confident, playful, and even a bit spontaneous (and of course high as a kite). She did Stand Back before anyone knew it--she would never preview a song these days.

She is slighty messy--strange banter with the crowd, I think she screws up Gypsy in the middle by singing the final la-la's, seems to go off and talk to Jimmy Iovine (I think that's him) for a few minutes in the middle of Gold and Braid, and starts that song by babbling about her tambourine.

But I think that all adds to the greatness of the show. It's a real rock and roll performance, nothing like the carefully scripted stuff she does now. I love her graceful performances these days, but boy is there a difference!

This show is a gem. My favorite moments are when she throws the tambourine down for two seconds and then picks it up, when she pretends like she's going to jump in the crowd, and her kick-ass Angel.

Anyone else love this show?

Other than Gypsy (when Sharon ruins the hell out of the high note) I think the show is top notch. I can watch it over and over....it never gets old.

Yeah, I noticed that about Gypsy...ouch.

I also love that Lori dances around like a spaz and Sharon even shakes it a bit during some of the songs.

I've never seen this show. Any of it. Nor heard any audio. Ever.

Nice review though.

I love this concert. To me, it's nice to see a great outside venue concert from Stevie - you get the cool wind in her hair and capes, the great performances and lots of gab from La Nicks.

Yeah...great show. She loved performing in front of several hundred thousand people.

The part in Edge of Seventeen where she jumps down off the stage in the front and runs is so cool.

I have two performances only. I sure would love to see that Angel. Anyway, the two I have are pretty much as described. Strange banter, a very free wheeling playful stevie. Very good, although one of the songs isn't my fave (Nightbird).

My fave part is when she's talking and says she is having such a good song she wants to play all night:

"We could do everyone's favorite songs. Throw in a little Rolling Stones... A little Turtles... They're freaking out backstage, cuz they know I'm serious!"

Also, the first (ever) performance of Stand Back:

"What does that mean, you may ask??? Quicksand. And you're the only 200,000 people in the world who'll know that."

I love the US Fest DVD. I have had it for awhile and watch it every 2 weeks

Just so you know Amber Nightbird isn't from US FEST.

Yeah, those are great. I also love the Girl Scout line.

That was honestly Stevie at her best. Love everything about it.

crap! what am I thinking of? Hmmm, now I'll have to check again. And try to trade with you.
Thanks for telling me. It all becomes a blur when you have 53 stevie videos on one tape.

I love this show! I honestly put it on sometimes just to have a laugh. The first time I watched it, it solidified how cool she really is.
