Ah, good points both....What can I say? Except...I've heard other "well" songs that turned out way worse - they don't have a good beat or cheesy '86 synth, is why. But I do hate me some "Well" most of the time.

Coke? yeah...but that doesn't mean it's bad.... Might even mean it's good.

I would actually call RAL the great Stevie divider. Some people love it, some can't stand it. I've noticed much more polarity on this album, and much more crossing of other Stevie tastes, then on any other. Street Angel has a polarity, but it's much more obvious.
Even I, myself, did not like the actual song RAL the first many times I heard it. Now I love it. Soooo Moody, so Strange, such a Debauched, Ratty, Blowsy, Imperfect, yet sublime vocal. It's like, fricking, Shelley Winters doing it. 60's Shelley Winters. It's like "Baby Jane" crossed with "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte"
And that's the essence of RAL to me. And I love it.

That is brilliant. Shelley Winters. I love me some Shelley. You are probably too young to have seen her drunken appearances on Johnny Carson in the 70's. Without peer. Babbling incoherently about her hot ex husbands, waving her hands madly around, cackling...and usually in some pastel colored caftan with big giant Sophia Loren sunglasses. She was a mess.

Also love No spoken word but for the time frams..the album, the 80's era
I Can't Wait is CLASSIC Stevie, and I was around when the album came out and this was one on the first songs released.
It's easy to sit back now and listen to all the songs and judge them ....
but 30 years ago..
I Can't Wait...ROCKED and You just HAD to sing along Plus it reflected the thoughts thousands of girls thinking the same thing!!
