The Adult Contemporary genre isn't all bad, and most of Stevie's '70s and early '80s fans are the ones listening to the AC stations anyway. She had much stronger material on 'TISL' than "Every Day," but I can't imagine any of the tracks getting much more airplay than "Every Day" did as it is.

Aww... sorry Hillary! I usually reserve my wordiest essays for the unappreciated songs Stevie herself wrote.
With a few exceptions ("Talk To Me" being chief among them), the songs she has covered by other songwriters, are usually ones that, even though I love them quite a bit, I'm still not too deeply attached to them emotionally.

If it helps, I do have a sweet memory attached to "Every Day," because Anne and I had been listening to it on repeat (at her request) the day I met one of the Ledgies here. So even though it doesn't relate to my friendship with him in any way lyrically, hearing it brings me back to that day and having the song stuck in my head when I met him.

I like it too...I mean, it's not the best to me on the album, but it was the first TISL song I heard via an online source before it was released and something about the "I see you" "I need you" parts really ring in my ear and I think it's a enjoyable song. I really really REALLY think POTU could have done SO much more for Stevie and TISL had it had the right promotion - a freakin' video and some live performances...but oh well...

Thank you for the correction on Every Day. That was karma biting me on the ass because I tend to correct peoples' English all the time. LOL!

I think the idea behind the video was that she was supposed to be immortal and the men falling asleep at the table with cobwebs on them was supposed to show that. It also seemed like a fairytale where a princess is cursed that all the men in her life are doomed to sleep forever, or something like that.

I really think that the director had a fetish for sleeping guys. This is a real fetish and I'm sure that creative people tend to insert their fetishes into their art, wether it's intentional or not.

I haven't seen the Rosie clip, is it online somewhere? I'd love to see that. And when she did it live in Orange County last year there was this wonderful moment of silence when she said "It cures the silence" and then the place erupted. So yeah, that's a pretty cool song to see live. I was with a very close friend for that show and I put my arm on her knee when Stevie sang it because it sort of made me think of our friendship. I know, schmultzy but it's true.

You know, I never thought of it that way until I read your post and rewatched the video. Good interpretation.

Now, is it just me or when the couple dances in the video, the dance move reminds me of the dance move in Gypsy between Stevie and Lindsey when the video is black and white in the speak easy. But maybe that is just my imagination ?
