Just curious.

At one time, I aspired to own my own business (a quaint little bookstore/coffee shop.) But honestly, I don't think I would.

My dad is an independent insurance agent, and because of that, he is technically self-employed and is classified as a small business owner. My mom helps him at the office. We didn't have medical insurance for a long time when I was growing up. Hard to believe....he sold the stuff, but we didn't have any. It was so expensive, they couldn't afford it. Now they have a "major medical plan" and it it is still ridiculously expensive. And they have no formal retirement plan....they plan on working well into their 70s. Plus, they haven't had a vacation in almost 15 years. They're too afraid they'll be behind when they get back. So no.........owning my own business does not appeal to me.
