Iraq was bombed for 12 years straight by the United States during sanctions. During the Lewinsky scandal, Clinton not only bombed Iraq, but Sudan and Afghanistan, too. He shot cruise missiles without batting an eyelash.

as for Sudan, as I recall, we had UN peacekeeping troops over there, therefore we were directly involved, and any such bombing would have been a military decision, right or wrong. As for Afghanistan, THEY were fighting Russia up until recently and I dont recall any real headlines dealing with US military action there until Bush Jr. ordered troops in. If you have other info, please post it and I will gladly say I stand corrected. Last edited by irishgrl; 08-27-2005 at 12:11 AM.. |

Clinton didnt go in there (or ANYWHERE) unilaterally like Monkey boy is doing. Clinton didnt need to create the "pre-emptive strike" doctrine, like Monkey Boy. there is NO comparison. Whatever Clinton did, he did at the request of another agency. He was a lame duck president after all, halfway into his first term. Sorry. you just cant point to his few military forays (with UN approval) and call him an "indiscriminate bomber" nope. not happening. |

Diss, I never said that people didnt suffer as a result of bombing, even Clinton said he regretted the loss of innocent life...but your continual jabs at him are unfair since he had the backing of the UN for those actions (except maybe Iraq, and even then, the UN recognized Saddam was a threat) I dont condone baseless bombing. All I am doing here is stating that you cant call Clinton's actions "indiscriminate" when he acted either under color of UN approval or by virtue of intelligence, and therefore, in the US interest. (Im not saying I agree with it) Bush had more current intelligence than Clinton had and for him to use the SAME intelligence as Clinton is disingenuous to say the least. Bush knew better. Clinton didnt. |

again, we are talking about Iraq, which was viewed at least since Bush Sr's tenure, as an incalcitrant, obstructive, non cooperative nation who was also dangerous and capable of utilizing nuclear weapons. |

"in Clinton's entire time in office I can only recall ONE time when he bombed anyone" "that doesnt explain how Clinton's ONE TIME use of force constitutes 'indiscriminate bombing'" "please understand: once does NOT equal 'indiscriminate'." Lux never made any mention of Iraq in her first post, she simply said "he launched indiscriminate bombing raids." The facts back her up.
