Eh, this is a tough one. I have mixed feelings about it. Hotel lobbies ARE public places and yea, they could use a back entrance but I, personally, am hesitant to rush up to one of the band members in a hotel lobby. After running into Stevie in the Atlanta Four Seasons, I decided not to approach her. It was 1:00 AM in the morning and I knew she had just flown in from a show in Nashville. She was in very casual clothes, hair all askew, makeup every which way and I thought it was inappropriate to bother her when she obviously wanted to get upstairs and relax. Plus she was surrounded by her posse and I doubt they would have allowed it.

Lindsey..I do not think he minds the attention. I think he likes it to some extent but again, I personally, would not bother him more than once in a lobby. If I ran into him, I would definatley walk up, say hello, tell him how hot he is and ask for a picture. That would be enough. There would be no need to go back to another lobby. I would feel like he would think I was nuts if I "ran into" him again.

Restaurants, homes, funerals...completely and totally inappropriate. I think it was Tower who mentioned how spooky and scary it must be to be a celebrity trying to deal with obsessed fans. I agree and many celebrities, Stevie included, are quite scared of what they perceive to be obsessed fans. I would never want to do anything that would cross that line in Stevie's or her securities mind. Remember that story from the Atlantic City show that Marissa and I told? About the guy who Stevie saw during the beginning of the show and went off to Waddy about him? She was waving her arms all around and within 1.3 seconds Waddy had informed Marcus, who was then down in the audience yanking the guy out of the row. So, Stevie was afraid enough of this guy that he was thrown right out of the show, three songs in. (we all could tell Stevie was freaked out by this guy, just by the way she was looking at him and reacted to him) Marcus picked him out in a row full of fans in less then ten seconds so her security was familiar with this guy as well. There is definately a down side to fame and although most fans mean well and only want to say hello, a few bad apples ruin it for the whole bunch.

Crossing the line of obsession....

I know someone on this board who goes out of their way to meet FM band members. They spend a lot of time and money plotting and planning which hotel the band will be staying at. This one person in particular really scares me. I will not point fingers or name names because then I look bad. Obsessed doesn't even begin to describe this person.

What is going to far as a fan? I think if you run up your credit cards year after year to go see the band all over the country, spend money you do not have to stay at posh hotels just because you know the band is staying there (and their whole focus is to "run into" the band in every city they go to and get their picture taken with them) , and then spend years trying to dig yourself out of debt you are either very immature or you have a serious mental issue.

We joke and comment about how many shows some people go to (which is great if financially they can afford it--kudos to them!!). What concerns me, is when someone can not afford these luxuries yet overextends themselves because they can not control their obsession to spend 5 maybe 10 minutes in a hotel lobby with their obsession. If they are that unstable and that obsessed, THOSE are the people that are capable of doing anything to the band members.

I think Stevie and Lindsey and all the rest are probably very used to

fans waiting for them in Hotels, and even ( if they're in the mood for it )

talking to them for at least a brief period of time.

However - and this is just personal opinion - I personally don't

recommend trying to sell Stevie's underwear on e-bay; setting up

so-called "religious" websites to solicit money for your favorite charity -

yourself, that is - using a picture of Stevie as an "Angel" and her

drawings and paintings, which she has copyrights of and which she

deserves compensation for - while implying that she endorses the website,

which she did not; posting proudly in google discussion groups that

"Stevie's security is well-aquainted with me" ; or coming in to the

Nicksfix website chat room and talking with a well-known permanent

camper there about how to "take down" Stevie's security; all within

a time frame of one summer. Those things, when taken together and

when happening in rapid succession over a short period of months,

are perhaps somewhat "over the top." Of course, jumping out of an

airplane with a Nicks license plate was perhaps a little weird in the

FIRST place, but I guess that all by itself was technically okay.

The rest is behavior that should, perhaps, be re-evaluated.

I also, personally, don't recommend showing up at her house

uninvited. That would officially be Over the Top.

I guess what I'm saying is that Stevie loves her fans, and in my

opinion as a fellow fan, it's "all good" as long as you're courteous of

Stevie's space and feelings and need for privacy.

P.S. on this - I recently heard that someone called Stevie in her

Hotel room on this current tour, lost her nerve, hung up, and called back,

thinking they could "hang out" on the phone. This was at 4 a.m.

She was surprised and shocked that Stevie was "Very Rude" to her.

OH pu-leeese. A little common sense, is all I'm sayin'.

Let the woman sleep at night, no? And don't go callin' her at all,

unless you literally for real know her personally. The poor woman probably

has to change her freaking phone number every other WEEK!

And - obviously, we need to respect Jessie, Chris and Lori's privacy too.

Anyway those are my thoughts, and I know that they're obvious to the

person that posted this question, but what can I say, that's what I

personally came up with.

1.) Polite.

2.) Quiet.

3.) Respectful.

Unless you're gonna be sending jet air planes to pick people up,

but actually I think that's probably not such a hot idea these days

anyway......

I've been thinking about this and I know a couple of people are on this board, had encounters and I enjoyed them all were from fans in Australia. They followed them all over the country, finding them in every hotel they stayed at and the band loved it!

I think Mick even gave out backstage passes at some point. I remember them singing in some hotel lounge with Brett and Lindsey and John being great about seeing them everywhere. They really got a kick out of it.

I think Stevie stayed hidden or just quickly moved from the lobby to her room surrounded by her people. The guys in the band really thought it was cool that these fans followed them all over their country.

If you are honest, sincere, not intrusive and not stalking their every move, I think they are cool with running into fans.

Yep - but I'm actually embarrassed by how chicken I was. I waited for her and then, when she came, I pretty much ducked out of sight until her back was turned.

I still don't know what I would have done if Lindsey had come through that lobby. He's more approachable but I'm such a big coward, so... who knows.

I don't know about that. We pay to hear music. We pay to see them perform. If they owe us anything, it would be the best they can give us onstage or on a recording.
