Arrow Just my 2 pennies...

The Chiffonies and the Buckheads are two different animals. It's pretty much fact. This Ledge is quiet a lot because Lindsey is usually hermitized (I just made up a new word. ). It's not an uptight factor, it's just LB fans are just different personalities, I think.

I think in some cases that's true, but in some it's not. And then you have the people who are fans of both.

I'll leave it to you to come up with a name for the serious fans of both Stevie and Lindsey

Now that you mention it, I think Lindsey is obsessed with his little demon.

Thanks for the kind mention, Tango. The reasons for such a big turnover of moderators were varied. Some moderators of the least active forums had sort of already phased out, possibly from having nothing much to do.

In my case, it just felt like it was time to step down after five years of mostly lurking, problem solving and dealing with bad guys. It just wasn't fun anymore, so Les and I did a Butch and Sundance and went off the cliff together!

Patti's going to do a great job.

Barbara

Since both of you have hung up your moderators hats, I hope you'll both come back and participate in the Ledge more often.

Thanks to both of your for all of your many contributions over the years. I know that the moderators had many responsibilities that the members here wouldn't know about and weren't obvious from reading the forums. There was also a lot of work put into updating and transfering the old Discography, SHN and BLA, and a lot of that work was done by some of the moderators.

I'm afraid too many Ledgies don't take advantage of the mother lode of information to be found in The Penguin. I know Les and Johnny Stew both are regular contributors to SHN and BLA.

When I first became aware of The Penguin around the time of The Dance in '98, I lurked for a couple of months reading the articles in the Blue Letter and messages on The Ledge before ever getting up the nerve to post. The Ledge population was much smaller then and we tackled weighty issues like Lindsey's hammock, how he smelled, who he was looking at on The Dance video, was it Kristen?, stuff like that. . .

I'm always stunned when I read a post by someone who doesn't know something very basic about Lindsey since it's so easy to find.

An amazing amount of work and love has gone into making The Penguin the best Fleetwood Mac web site on the net, and I think The Ledge is the best message board, hands down. Marty should be very proud.

I'm looking forward to being able to post more frequently, now that I don't have to behave.

You would find the Penguin and then spend the next week reading every bit of information on every page until you thought you were going to go blind....and then you'd move on to every other FM related site and devour those!

Miss Barbara's back! This should be fun!

This week is the 8th Anniversary of The Dance. Time flies!

It seems there is some confusion amongst a few of you. You believe I am referring to Lindsey’s lyrics and affronted by the discussion of their sexuality. Since I have never objected to this before, I have to wonder why you would think I would do so now. In fact, we have had threads about such things on this forum in which I have participated.

So I’ll tell you something you should already know, but perhaps forgot in the fervor of counter-argument. I agree with the fact that it is impossible and even silly to try and avoid such discussions. I agree that it makes perfect sense to discuss whether or not “rock cock” would be censored. I even agree that it’s fun to quote sexy lyrics. Therefore, any statements about how ridiculous such a stance is really have no bearing on what Tango, Cour, and I are talking about.

But I’m always happy to help. Here you go, guys. For your edification, I will reconstruct the deterioration of the thread into dirty jokes. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have afterwards.

======================

Tango said, referring to Lindsey’s being a hermit:
I'd love to have a Q&A here on The Penguin with Lindsey and be able to ask him these things directly. Maybe one day. (If we could get him out of the hole!)

------------------------------

Curtis then replied to her in this manner:

Should I take this one or does someone else want to comment?

------------------------------

To which gldstwmn replied:

SPARKY?! STRAND?! DISSY?! TOWER?!

-------------------------------

At which Nancy thought: Geez, here we go again.

But, it never went there. In fact, it stayed clean and on topic -- unless you think my sideways analogizing LB's reluctance to release his material to constipation, which I thought was a funny and mostly innocuous way of looking at it.

That was pretty gross, but maybe I should be glad it didn't get worse? I will admit it was a relief that no one else responded to gldstwmn's summons to take the dirty joke and run with it. Perhaps the Lindsey forum is better about such things after all!

I know you, Curtis, and gldstwmn weren't trying to offend anyone. It's just sometimes I think you don't realize how you're coming off. Now that gldstwmn is a moderator, she'll have to think about that even more than you guys will, but I think it's a good idea for everyone to self-censor. Even you, beloved Jason. I know what a gentleman you can be when you feel like it. There are times when I think you could charm the tailfeathers off of a peacock. Why not apply those principles here? I feel the need for a nice conciliatory kissy smiley.

While I realize you have your own board to run, please be advised that the way in which I conduct myself on these boards is between myself, the other moderators and the owners of this board.
I was asked to moderate and I gladly accepted. Having over 9000 posts on this board, I am not an unknown commodity. I do not think that I would have been selected if anyone had any doubts about my integrity.
This is starting to feel like a personal attack Nancy, which is clearly in violation of the FAQ's.
So I will ask that this stop right here. If you have any concerns about the way in which I conduct myself, please direct them to the appropriate parties and in private.
Carry on.

I love that. I will forever refer to you as The Known Commodity from now on.
