Many of the people I work with are around the same age so we're all going thru the phase of losing one or the other of our parents. A few people have lost family members tragically. Mostly everyone just steps away and lets the person deal on their own. To me, that's sad because I am a huggy, touchy, fuzzy, feely person. But, again, everyone's different. And that's apparent here at The Ledge with two deaths in a row that have affected someone we admire and care about.... Stevie. I don't know if a group hug will change the mix of emotions here or not, prolly not, but it's a nice gesture. Suffice it to say, there are hot spots in regards to this issue in other fan communities as well, not just here. It's a touchy subject.

It certainly is a touchy subject. Everyone deals with death in different ways.
I don't feel the need to make a public deal out of the fact that I am sorry for Stevie. Death sucks, and she has certainly dealt with it before. It is natural fact of life, we're all going there, and so is everyone we know. She is an extremely strong woman, emotional or not. She is going to be fine. Losing her Dad isn't going to destroy her, it is one more passage in the natural order of life. It changes us, it makes us grow, it is supposed to happen.

I think I came out of my experiences with death a much stronger man. I had a 2 year death march that most people would find hard to believe. I lived through at and it made me feel damned near bulletproof when it was over - although at times I thought it might kill me while I was going through it.

We all process it differently, and it winds people up something fierce. I think the most important thing to do is give people a little room and let them do what they have to do. It all works out in the end.
