Of course I'm going to say Celine Dion, en francais en particulier
Stevie Nicks
Christine McVie (love the way her voice sounds on ITM)
Sarah Brightman (especially the way she does "The Music of the Night")
Shakira (I prefer her in native tongue like Celine, and she's even better live)
Ani DiFranco (I can think of only a few of her songs that aren't perfectly emotive)
PJ Harvey (I'm a new fan of hers but I love what she does in her song "Rid of Me"
Donna Lewis (very Cyndi Lauper-esque much of the time)
Reba McEntire (Blows. Me. Away. again and again...and I love it when she turns a one-syllable word into a ten-syllable one)
Patty Loveless (pretty much like Reba sans the embellishments)
Kim Richey (like the other two country divas but with a more campy, alternative thing going on)
Matraca Berg (just for her heart-wrenching version of "Lying to the Moon")
Carly Simon (so smooth)
