No really though I wasn't surprised when I heard this. She's a true artist and she's very sensative about her work and what we see as praise may be seen by her as something else.

Gimme a break. She's been in the music business for 30+ years, you aren't selling me on this thin-skinned business. I'd be willing to bet the contents of my bank account that she's tough as nails and can take any criticism sent her way. If her "people" keep her away from the internet and the kind of stuff found on it, it's because of people like that crazy asshole who wanted to kidnap her because he thought she could cure his queerness; not because someone doesn't like one of her songs. Forgive me if I don't find her God-like and want to pay huge sums of money just to be in her presence.

I don't think she's thick skinned at all. One example that comes to mind is Destiny Rules doc, when she immediately got very defensive when Lindsey tried to correct her grammar for Thrown Down. She wasn't having it, and she looked offended.

I never claimed to know the reason she doesn't want to know (that was only speculation). I was only told it upsets her and she gets scared but I don't know why.

P.S. I find her Goddess-like and would pay huge sums of money just be in her presence :P

I agree, I think people shredding SA to bits and pieces would bother her but that's just me (even if she herself puts it down those are still things she wrote and sang and are a part of her). People telling her what she should/shouldn't have in her setlist, making insinuations about her personal life, etc. may not be things she wants to hear.

Stevie herself said she wrote nothing very memorable for years and has gone on the record (literally) to say she doesn't like Street Angel. If she can say them, certainly her fans can.

I think she's tough, too, but I still think she's really sensitive. To be honest, I don't think she's encountered extremely harsh criticism very much. Remember she was devastated when she read the SA reviews? And she changed because of them? I think she's tough but not in the way of people directly criticising her, in her life and all that. I think for a long time, most people she's ever talked to have treated her with fairly, if not excessive, kid gloves. I think her toughness has more to do with ambition, networking, and self promotion qualities than sensitivity to criticism.

I still say it would bother her. It's one thing to critique your own work but for others to shred it is different.

Well said Sista! I was going to bring up the SA reviews thing too but I think that would pretty much affect any woman. I do however think Stevie is a bit more emotional but that's not to take away from her toughness. You have to be strong to get through the hardships she's encountered and to come out on the other end where she is today. That woman has more strength than most people I know!
