Default Stevie getting pulled in Detroit

In case no one sees it in the dying Detroit review thread:

Just so everyone knows,

It's official: the guy who "pulled" Stevie did NOT do it on purpose--he has diabetes which has affected his heart (or, in any case, he has both diabetes and a heart condition), so Amy was right. Stevie was informed of him ahead of time and went to shake his hand and he fainted.

Stevie was freaked out but not in an angry way--the "dirty looks" and "glares" she was giving him were actually looks of extreme concern. This is why her massive body guard, Raul, didn't actually make his way all the way across the stage to kick some a$$--he was staring intently, but he backed off because he knew Stevie's safety was not in question. I feel so bad for this guy because people have been randomly calling him an "a$$hole" and a "****head" and projecting their own anger onto Stevie's expressions without knowing what really happened--my gut feeling was that Stevie was not angry at all, but I was starting to doubt my own observations.

In any case, he clearly did not "ruin it" for the rest of us because Stevie did the Edge walk just like she always does and seemed to be having a great time. I hope I get to shake her hand in Grand Rapids! Stevie is such a class act!

Hey Lisa!

Thanks for clearing this up - just out of curiosity... how do you know this?

PS We didn't make it to the hotel... we got lost. And wound up in an ever so slightly sketchy area!

Oh, and I did hear from Bree about your post-concert Detroit adventure with the mysterious abruptly-ending freeway, LOL. NOT fun! I'm glad you guys made it home safely!

Wow. Poor guy. I didn't even see this happen. I can't imagine how I missed it.

Yeah that's the thing about detroit...your one mistake in directions can lead you to a very unsafe territory...that's why I don't live there

It was a little surreal. One minute, we're fine, driving along. Next minute, we're stopped in traffic, at this long light, and like, all of a sudden, we're surrounded by SUVs with music blaring, and the guys in them are honking and gesturing at us... We're like... uh, might be the cue to turn around and head back to Canada!

I'm glad you posted this thread. I'm shocked by the nasty language used by people who didn't even know what happened.

Common sense tells us that this didn't happen according to the rumors.

1. Stevie never goes up to someone randomly at the start of the show to grab their hand.

2. If he had intentionally tried to pull her into the crowd, she would have stopped the show and probably walked off the stage.

3. The guy would have been ejected from the show.

Instead, this is a very touching story about Stevie Nicks doing something really special for someone and also a good reminder about what happens when people don't "take some time to know the real story."

While she probably did know about this person ahead of time, she has in fact done that a few times...in Atlanta June 30, 2001 she came out and right when she came out a man had his hand up and she walked by and shook it before going to her mic..I thought he was gonna pass out lol

OOH! I know you guys - Cat and Lisa - I'm Maureen, Bree's friend.... SteviesSingingFish Bree told me about all the ghetto misadventures - I'm glad you guys made it back to Canada safe and sound. Man - all of us need to get together for a show sometime. If she, by any chance in the world and by the grace of god, swings by Montage ( I hope I hope I hope please please please) - you guys definitely have a place to crash!

How the stormin' gypsy these days?

Wow, I'm truly touched. I had a feeling something was up and it was not just some crazy guy trying to pull her into the audience. You guys should really read what the guy said (click on the link). I got emotional reading this, not only by what he said but by Stevie's reaction and how much she truly does care about her fans. This is just one more testament to that and what a beautiful person she is...
Poor guy, I hope he didn't read what a lot of people were saying. He's probably traumatized by all this.

Poor guy. Hope he is alright. What if he would have pulled Stevie right off the stage? It would have been kind of like the Rock A Little show in Australia. Who wouldn't want Stevie to land right on top of em?

What happened in Australia? Did she fall of the stage because she was high as a kite?

I believe she twirled off of the stage - though others may know more.
