The funny thing is why have a kitchen when you are in PARIS - HELLLOOOOOOO!!!!!

I like sedate walls. I would, however, maybe go darker on the walls and keep the wainscoating lighter.

That would be jarring, but it could work. I'd give it a dark venetian plaster treatment to go with the wood floors, ditch the wainscoating, and get even brighter drapes.
