Andre Leon Talley is styling Miss Mimi now. She has looked beautiful lately. She looked gorgeous on Oprah yesterday.

Yikes! Some of you guys are pretty ferocious. I happen to like Mariah, and admire the fact that unlike so many other "artists" she actually writes most of her music.

She also seems more genuine, and she is confident enough to be who she is, despite all the catty remarks about how she dresses, etc.

I think she can be very annoying, but I have a soft spot for, hence my buying her new album. And I think it's fabulous. Good melodies and hooks, she doesn't go crazy with that voice of hers, and she keeps the ballads to a minimum. Good stuff. I respect her for having as much respect for her fans as she does, I think it's refreshing.

I make no apologies for my hatred of Mariah - I hate her.

She's a f*cking pig.

I would rather lick satan's balls than than listen/look at her....did I mention I STRONGLY dislike her?

I cannot believe you do not even recognize the academic quality to her voice. Same thing for Celine Dion - I am not a fan of her stuff, but I clearly recognize the superior quailty of that voice, which I think she underuses actually. But, to each their own

I can't take credit for the one about Satan's balls, though!

It is good stuff. I drove to Las Vegas last week for a few days and that was a great CD to listen to. And I agree, she does respect her fans, and that is refreshing.

She has an amazing voice when she sticks to three or so octaves. Her squealing is not for me and not singing as that word is traditionally defined. I also have respect for her because though I loath the way she dresses, I think she is a genuine person. the DJ's here in Atlanta that interviewed her were later and in private very complimentary of her and said she was real nice and not really a diva, etc.

I could not agree more. She is very adamant about that and I think it's awesome. I saw her getting ready to go into Letterman and she was being rushed in, but walked off the "red carpet" to a fan she saw in a wheelchair, hugged her neck and mouthed the words, "you doing okay?" - I respect her for things like that and this isn't an isolated event.

Anyway, like they say, people build you up to knock you down. I don't like every song or everything she's worn or said or done, but in the end I respect her talent and songwriting and the fact that she is grateful for her fans...and appreciates them giving her the life she has.

hmmm...so nobody knows The Family Stand nor sees the resemblence in titles......So I have a request: Trackaghost, please quote my last post and say you agree with me. Then I know I'm not alone and can go on in other threads that rock my boat too.

And about that classy remark around Satan's balls: Mariah should lick them for a month or two. Enough to turn in that academic drizzle into raw emotion.
