Our dissy loves any review or comment that's snarky towards Stevie... haven't you picked up on that yet?

The Wild Heart was the zenith of Stevie's voice (HELLO!!! "Enchanted" !!!!!). She never reclaimed its power after that. I directly attribute it to the cigarette smoking.... Idiot!!!
You're saying ENCHANTED is the zenith of Stevie's voice??? of all the songs from that album, Enchanted has to be one of the plainest least knock out of a vocal on there. Sharon and Lori do most of the singing on that song. Now SAB, Nothing Ever Changes, Wild Heart, even Gate and Garden really show off her voice.

When she soars in the "Have you come to see that my fave is not SEEENNNNN . . . " I just about die everytime. Towie (or anyone else) - is than an E above the measure? and is that the highest note she hits on the record because her harmony on the "I" of I will run to you and her "DARE" in dare my wild heart - arm up there as well. Where the hell is that CD

Default Stand Back...

I dig the lyrics to SB, strange though they may be, because I feel that are actually pretty revealing about Stevie's state of mind when she wrote them. However, when she tried to say that by "standing in a line" she meant a WELFARE line..she entered into ridiculousness. As if anyone would buy that one sweetheart.

No, what I meant, but didn't convey very well is that "Enchanted" is a great example of how far, reckless and wild she was willing to go back then. The vamp on that song is amazing.

Nope. That honor goes to "If Anyone Falls" - yuck....

Agreed. Especially "Nothing Ever Changes"- talk about wild!

I'm not at the piano, but I believe the "seee" of the "seee - een" is a B above middle C. It the same note as the "neah" from the "neah-ver get away" from the end of "Silver Springs". It's a high note to hit, but I'll betcha Stevie could still do it if she wanted to.

The highest note she hits is an E-flat one octave above middle C during "Wild Heart". It's at the point near the end of the song where she sings, "Wild, wild, wild, WIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLDD heaaaarrrt!!!" Great moment.

Ah Ha!!!!!

All this talk of middle C makes we want to go over and play my piano - which I do not do well and it still lives where I used to live - so it probably won't happen

Thanks for the info though and let us form a caring circle and meditate that she sings ALL songs mostly above middle C - hey I can wish! The worst I have ever heard her lower a song was SDMHA on the TISL tour - Oy

Interestingly, I wonder if she will sing anything from SYW. I would DIE for Smile at You in the range she recorded it on SYW and gave it a cool live arrangement!!!

The WORST!!!!! It was like a smack in the face. Having that song as the opener and then singing it in that key was like popping a balloon. All the energy and venom in that song disappeared.

Much less she sang it in what appeared to sound like two notes - though I love her - I cringed. Come on darling - jack it up a notch - BAM!

It's doubtful she'll do anything from SYW... and if she did Smile At You they way she did it on SYW, half of the audience will start heading to the bathrooms and concession stands.. the other half will be sleeping..

Why doesn't she sing with any vibrato on that damn track?

whenever she deliberately avoids her natural vibrato, the effect is like a blast of unmodulated wind passing through a shofar. Her fans actually think that's cool?

That song never should have made SYW as is...

She doesn't really have it anymore. The smoking killed it- and her lack of paying attention to vocal skills nailed the coffin.

My voice teacher told me that it wasn't good for your voice to sing with a vibrato, and also that many people have them because of vocal damage. So maybe she's trying to sing more healthfully.
