one more vote for SARA...

i love the chain, it's quite fitting that it's made it this far (and will most likely win) seeing that it's the only song written by all of them blah blah...

She'll never win, but I have to vote from my heart here. So even though I love "The Chain" to pieces, I have to go with "Sara." Which is, to my ears, the most sumptuous six and a half minutes of music ever committed to tape.

It glistens and gurgles like a riverstream flowing over polished stones, and I can completely and easily lose myself in its beauty.

"All I ever wanted, was to know that you were dreaming...."

Just kiddin! I really do like the song in general...but I don't put it at the top of my list. My daughter can actually sing a mean karoake "Sara."

You said it, not me. Though "gurgle" is one apt way to describe her voice at times.

My vote is for Sara also. I have warm fuzzy memories of hearing it on the radio and seeing the video on MTV so many moons ago. And I love it, even though it "warped my fragile little mind" (in a good way).

Besides, if you think about it, the song is the perfect recorded representation of the Mac's "All My Children" public persona:

- Was Don Henley telling the truth?
- The band had to testify in court to prove Stevie wrote it.
- Are there really uncredited backup singers and musicians fleshing out the final version?
- We had to wait several years to hear the full cut in CD-quality after it was butchered for the first Tusk CD pressing.
- All those lesbian rumours I had to debunk during high school (before people knew what the song was really/supposedly about): Why is Stevie Nicks asking some chick named Sara to come drown with her in the sea of love after building a house?

SARA

"Wait a minute baby, stay with me awhile. Said you'd give me light, but you never told me about the fire".

It's lyrically superb to "The Chain".
