Of course they should have, at least Mick knows that the Penguin is THE Fleetwood Mac site........but his ego can't seem to grasp that the pathetic site Jonathan is running is more of an embarrassment at this point

I always found it amusing that they announced their Q&A with Mick about 1-2 days after John's was announced. Coincidence? lol

So who's up next? (not counting John's inevitable and anxiously awaited return)

I'm trying. I've invited several people to do them, but no response yet...

I forgot about how Mick announced that Q&A right after we announced John's, that was sort of funny! Someone over there was checking things out over here.

I think we'll get some more from John eventually. Maybe it's more fun for him in small doses. He knows all those questions are sitting here waiting....and I think he did get a kick out of doing it.

Actually on this note of Mick knowing about our site, there's something I keep forgetting to mention: My brother in law worked for a hotel in NY, the hotel where Mick and partner etc stayed when they were in the city promoting Mick's wine (the Hyatt, was it? My BIL is somewhere else now.) My BIL- David Adelson-had a chance to speak w/ a guy in Mick's entourage, and told him "My brother and his wife run a big FM site--Marty Adelson, he runs The Penguin."

The guy perked right up. "The Penguin?! We love that website! We were just talking the other day about fan sites and that one was in the top three!" (I suppose this means 2 are better than us but I can handle that LOL, I know we don't update or market stuff as much as we could...and there are some other great sites out there.) So anyway the guy actually returned to my BIL later w/ a bottle of wine that Mick had signed-- "To Marty, love Mick Fleetwood." I should take a picture of it and show you guys, it's in a nice case in our kitchen above the computer, w/ some other FM stuff.

My BIL did meet Mick briefly, said he was a BIG guy, very imposing, strong handshake. So anyway I'd like to think that Mick know who we are...?

And on the off chance that Mick reads this, the Adelsons say thanks for the wine.

That's such a great story and totally random the way that happened. Love it!

Well, he did say it was one of the top three, that didn't mean the other 2 were ahead of you in their view, For all you know they thought the Penguin was the top site....wouldn't be a reach to come to that conclusion Yes, there are many other great sites but no other FM site has as extensive a collection of information as the Penguin.......that's just a fact!

BTW - I just read that Cath Caroll book. Not a bad book at all and it was filled with enough interesting information to make it different from the other ones we've read. I also thought her knowledge of music and the way she critiqued the tracks on Rumours and Tusk was interesting. She did a lot of research and the book looked at that time less from the soap opera aspect and more from the music perspective. She didn't harp on the romance angle and rarely mentioned the drugs.

Her kudos to you, Marty and the Penguin were wonderful. She seemed genuinely impressed at the vast amount of information on this site.

I guess I kinda see it that way as well. Although I have to say that w/ the other 4, it's doubtful they'd wanna do it directly w/ us, they'd maybe want a middleman/manager etc to be involved, which makes things complicated...I'm not the kind of person to deal w/ managers. Plus they all have thier own sites/venues in which to do it. (Sadly, though, they aren't really getting done!!) The other people I asked were more 'peripheral people', that were on the sidelines for years but who must have tons of info/memories.

I will admit that in the beginning, boy, we did not do them as well as we could. I recently told a friend here at the ledge that we sent poor Jeremy running from his computer in terror LOL. Probably the way Chris may be running from hers regarding her own Q&A!

I also enjoyed her book, and she did have nice things to say about the site. All the credit was appreciated. I think we were a bit hurt though--being that she used a lot of material from us- that the publisher didn't contact us earlier than the release of the book to market it; they just sent info to us along w/ everyone else. Another site then quickly got exclusivity rights to it, which was fine, but now that that time period is over the publisher is sort of wanting us to market the book at this time. Marty had a few choice words about that LOL. I dunno. I guess I'm being immature by not jumping at the chance...petty, perhaps...

But in any case, it was lovely to receive the acknowledgement from Cath Carroll. Credit is nice to get. Unlike in another thread, the whole 'Bob Welch interview' from some Dec 2004 publication-- I think much of it is from our Q&A w/ him!! I thought it sounded familiar LOL. But no credit...odd that folks can just lift stuff and call it their own.

Oh well.

Well, you got the best of the lot when you scored John

So that's how the other site ended up with those give away books, I wondered how that happened. Weird that they wouldn't approach your site first since she credited you so many times and was very gracious in her praise of the wealth of information available here. LOL - I'd have the same choice words as Marty. I don't think you're wrong for not doing it unless there's something great in it for you or the site. Even then, I'd probably pass.

I thought WB contacting all the FM sites about the Live in Boston DVD's and not even offering them a free DVD for advertising and promoting the damn thing was beyond low. The DVD costs them a few dollars and they think all the fan sites are just there to help them and they don't have to do the smallest thing in return for asking for a favor.

I'm confused, Cath Carroll didn't lift your Bob Welch interview did she? It seemed she was always refering to your site, and in particular the Ken C Q&A many times throughout the book.

The real travesty was the Leah Furman book. She lifted every bit of information for that book from this site. It was like she printed out the BLA and just copied it. Besides the trashy nature of the book, I don't believe she even had the good grace to credit the site at all.

Well, it's no secret I adore him. So I'd have to agree that to ME he was the best. Although I certainly know that people that adore LB or Stevie or Chris or Mick (anyone out there adore Mick LOL?) would LOVE a nice well-run Q&A w/ those folks just as much as I loved having John, and it makes a me a little sad and frustrated that that's not happened. It could be a nice positive experience for the artist (if done properly) and fun for the fans as well. It makes the people on both ends feel special.

No, she didn't, that was from another magazine, Smash, was that the name of it? It's in the PreRumours forum, I think; I just linked to the article recently. Sorry to confuse you!

No, she didn't. I guess she could have just owned all those interviews herself...who knows. But I would have to agree that much of what she had could be found in the BLA.

From what I've been told Chris is in the process of recording her answers to cassette.

To be fair though I think it does depend on the subject. They can make the whole business difficult and not run as smoothly as Johns did.

A little credit goes a long way. I know when I gave Bob Brunning additional info when he updated his book it was nice that he gave me a nod for taking the time. At least I could make sure that he had the correct information this time!!

I used to think a lot more of Mick. It's a shame the whole Jonathan Todd fiasco tarnished it somewhat

Fantastic news! No typing for her LOL. I suppose someone will then transcribe it, very cool. Thanks for the info, Pip.

Ditto. I wonder if Mick knows JT lifted things directly from The Penguin to put on Mick's site. Remember that?
Those things disappeared from Mick's site almost as fast as the fan club complaints on Mick's chat.
