Is it just me, or are there others out there that really dig this song???
I think it is highly underrated. Yes, there are quibbles about the production- however..... I think it's a great rock-n-roll song. Great melody. The best thing is the LYRICS!!!! Klonopin haze or not, I think the lyrics are so insightful, visceral and wonderfully wistful. "So, how can you say, 'Well, I don't know what love is?' You have it, and you have no time for it... You feel completely indifferent You feel... pushed up against the wall Then, one day it just almost goes away... You spend lots of time alone Sometimes you spend years... And you miss those arms that used to go around you...." and "And, who gets the cold wind of it all everytime? Well, it's hard to be civil And it's real hard to be nice... But you did it, my love.... Everytime....." I also think my unabashed love for this song has a lot to do with Mick's drumming on this one. Anyways... I've always had a soft spot for this song. |

LOVE IT - and some of the alt takes and/or demos are FAB conpared to the sonic nightmare on the CD. The one that starts with her singing "no questions asked" in the opening chords is my fav.

Alrighty - I am listening to the demo I referred to above. I think the harmonies are too lush for the song. I think if it had none or significantly less, it would be better. All those AHHHHHHHH's when she is singing about being broken hearted and broke down like a little girl just lessen it somehow. Anyway - food for thought

It's a terrific song, and I was surprised that it wasn't released as a single from 'Greatest Hits'... it definitely got radio play around here, and I assume elsewhere.
I remember being completely fascinated by it when I first heard it in 1988, and I was really happy they included it on 'The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac' a few years ago. (Even though I know others grumbled -- but, hey, they can't please everyone. And as long as they please ME, I'm happy! )

Here's a shocker: (quite literally, no sarcasm at all)
I love this song as well. Which, besides being by Stevie, is rather surprising since I hate those sort of "I can't be without you" songs. |

I love this song so much, not talked about very much. Glad to see a thread about it. It is one of my all time favorites!

Out of the GH, OSOTM, BTM, and Street Angel this is my FAVORITE Stevie song from that era. Next favorite is Listen To The Rain. Anywho No Questions Asked has been left on repeat many times before, and many times to come.
To only hear it live, maybe she will suprise us this summer. Never say never, remember we got Sara last summer ! |
