Fans from the 80's: Tango memories?

I have many TANGO memories...this was the first project that was released on CD, but I got the LP as well ('cause it took me a long time to part with vinyl)...this was the first post-Betty Ford batch of songs we were treated to, and I knew that Stevie was going to have something to say about that experience, and that made WTTRS very meaningful to me...I got the 45 to Big Love just for the B-side and I still, to this day, don't know why Y&I part 1 wasnt included on the album -- the vocals are so lush and gorgeous...MTV was all about this release, so the videos were in heavy rotation, which I loved (everyone looked gorgeous)...when it was announced that LB had finally left, it was so surreal -- I didn't know how they were going to go on, but they managed just fine...I went to all 3 Texas dates on this tour and got to meet the band in Dallas, which was very cool -- I got a great picture of Christine and I as well as one with Mick (Stevie was a doll but did not want her picture taken)...this was the first tour where FM played Stand Back...TANGO is a great record and the production was fabulous - it still sounds great today.

First off, let me mention I am a first time poster here, and slowly becoming a fan (at age 37 nonetheless )

'Tango' was my first real look at the band, and this just happened 3 weeks ago. I Tivo VH1's "We are the 80's" to catch glimpses of some of my favorite videos from years past. When I see videos I like, I record them to tape, then to my hard drive to make DVD's. Well, "Little Lies" happened to be on there, and it was the first I had heard of the song (shocking isn't it!) I rewound the video a couple of times and really started to get into the song. Soon, I was on Google learning and reading more about the album, and the band in general. I picked up the Greatest Hits and have been enjoying that quite a bit.

From there, I hit E-Bay and found a concert DVD o 'Tango' and grabbed it immediately. It arrived a couple days ago, so I popped it in, cranked up the surround sound and watched.

I sat waiting to see Lindsey, and lo and behold, no Lindsey. Dissapontment #1 with this DVD.

I then forwarded to Little Lies, and it simply isn't the same song without Lindsey's playing. I was also dissapointed in Stevei's performance during the whole thing as it seemed to be 'mailed in'.

What I did like was "Everywhere" (again, a new song for me) and the drum solo that Mick did, that was awesome.

So, my question(s) to the more educated fans is.

1. What was the delta of time from Little Lies being released and Lindsey leaving the band? I found it strange that he was in the video, but not on the tour.

2. Does a video of "Everywhere" exist somewhere? Google is failing me on this one.

3. Is there a reccomended concert DVD that has the 5 I consider to be FM (Chris, Stevie, Lindsey, Mick and John)?

4. Was the song "Second Hand News" ever played on tour (another favorite I have found via MusicMatch)?

5. Straying a bit here... Another absolute favorite of mine is Lindsey's "Trouble" from Law and Order. I have the video, and is that Mick playing drums in the video with him? Anyone know who the otehrs are or were they just his session band for the album?

About four hours. The "Little Lies" video premiered & Lindsey left the band all around August 1987. The "Tango" album was released earlier that spring.

In 1977, 1978, 1979, 1982, 1997, 2003 & 2004.

5. Straying a bit here... Another absolute favorite of mine is Lindsey's "Trouble" from Law and Order. I have the video, and is that Mick playing drums in the video with him? Anyone know who the otehrs are or were they just his session band for the album?

Yes, Mick on drums. Also Walter Egan, Bob Weston (former Fleetwood Mac member), possibly Steve Ross & Ray Lindsey & Bob Aguirre (former Fritz member), maybe even Dennis Dunstan (security & management). It also looks like Bob Welch in the video, but he himself insists he's not in it.

You don't wanna see the Everywhere video, Lindsey isn't in it and it's lame. That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it. LOL

I only became a fan of Lindsey, then FM, in 2001, but Tango, along with Mirage, were the first two CD's I got. Well, technically, I got the green FM Greatest Hits album first, but in terms of albums and not greatest hits...anyways... Tango jumped out at me because I love 80's music and it's VERY 80's. I had heard Little Lies and Everywhere growing up so I was familiar with those songs. Tango and Mirage hold a special place in my heart since they were my first FM albums....ya know, besides the 1988 GH CD. LOL!!

Actually, it wouldn't have mattered to me that Stevie wasn't there (it is Christine's song after all), if the video was actually better. It just seems... lifeless and beneath Fleetwood Mac.
"Everywhere" is a buoyant song with a great groove, and deserved better than that video. (It deserved better when it comes to Jellybean's extended remix, too. He did a terrific job on "Little Lies" and "Seven Wonders," but "Everywhere" came out tepid.)

I have a special that aired in Australia that is all about the making of the "Everywhere" video and it's no wonder it looks so cheap. The "castle" was a cardboard model about the size of my computer desk.

I don't know the exact release date for "Little Lies" (it should be in the liner notes to 'The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac' though), but I believe it was available as a single pretty much within the same week or so as it was announced Lindsey had left the band.
Of course, radio had started to play it a little before that, and I believe MTV was already playing the video before too. It always seemed that radio and MTV started playing the singles before you could actually buy them.

Yes, there is actually a video for "Everywhere." The band (only Christine, John & Mick) is seen very briefly, as the storyline (based on Alfred Noyes' 'The Highwayman') takes centerstage.
There's another edit of the video though, which focuses only on the storyline with no band appearances.

I'm not sure if anyone on the net has it up for download. I don't believe I've ever seen it on anyone's site.

At the moment, the only officially released concert DVD to feature the entire 'Rumours'-era lineup, is 'The Dance'... FM's 1997 reunion concert which was first broadcast on MTV.
You should be able to find it anywhere that sells music-related DVDs.
I highly recommend it, though others feel it's a little too "polished" (but, then, this lineup of FM is known for their polished sound).

"Second Hand News" has been performed on several tours. In fact, every Mac tour in which Lindsey has participated since the release of 'Rumours,' has featured "Second Hand News" in the setlist.

There's a really terrific live version of it on the band's 2004 DVD/CD combo, 'Live In Boston' (which features Lindsey, Stevie, John & Mick in the lineup).

Yep, that's Mick! Some of the other guys are Bob Welch and Bob Weston (both former Fleetwood Mac guitarists), Walter Egan (best known for his hit "Magnet & Steel"), and other friends and associates of Lindsey and Fleetwood Mac.
