I like the Golden Globes more than the Oscars...Some of my fave moments:
Jamie Foxx's acceptance speech Teri Hatcher's acceptance speech Robin Williams' acceptance speech (loved the comment toward Christopher Reeve, made me get all verklempt) Okay, Star Jones looked like a packed sausage. NOT a flattering dress for her figure. All the DHs looked good, but I wasn't crazy about Eva's spray-on tan - too dark. Teri's dress looked gorgeous on her, I liked it more from the butt up, too busy on the bottom with all the doily cut-out stuff. It was silver, but looked kinda greenish to me on the red carpet, silver on stage. One of the entertainment show people even called it a light blue. But it was really silver, I believe. There really wasn't one outfit this year that made me gasp, "OMG, WHAT is she wearing?" I would have made a few makeup and hair adjustments (Laura Linney's eyes - yuck, and every woman with that bed head look - Nicole and Uma). |

I missed Lisa Marie
(must have been on while I was watching Housewives.)I thought all the Housewives looked great except Eva - HATED that hideous homecoming/prom cocktail dress. Yuck. Teri & Felicity were my top 2. Teri's dress was sensational, hair & makeup were perfect. Nicolette actually did not look like a man, which was a pleasant surprise. Star is a moron. She askes everyone the same crap, they all still say "oooooh congratulations!" to her like she's the only person in the world to get married. Can't believe she's a lawyer (I did hear that once, didn't I?) Joan & Melissa are sometimes rude, but hilarious & catty. Love it. Kathy Griffin was really funny I thought. I didn't think anyone dressed that badly last night, which is a little odd. There's usually quite a few train wrecks to laugh at. Of course, I did miss Lisa Marie and Mekhi (although, Melissa Rivers said she liked Mekhi the next day.) Nicole Kidman wore an incredible color, but I wasn't crazy about the peacock feather. And Lux - I agree, awards shows are pointless & frivolous. Too bad. I love them. Lighten up. Who cares. As an American, I'm aware that my country is at war & there's terrible suffering in the world. Awards shows & movie stars don't piss me off nearly as much as the fact that our President is having a lavish inauguration this week complete with steak dinner for 25,000 people. Who's buyin? ![]() |

I took notes on the Joan & Melissa Fashion Wrap show that was on the TV Guide Channel - for Brucie, whose local Time/Warner in San Antonio effed up and didn't carry it. I just sent him an email and thought I'd copy and paste it here for the other Joan/Melissa and Leon Hall lovin' fashionistas! I'd forgotten about Diane Krueger in my earlier post - can someone please tell me who she is?!?
Joan said, "I have good news and bad news - the good news - Brad and Jennifer are watching the show - the bad news - from separate houses." Leon summed it all up: Color, chiffon, Grecian Goddess, (pale, pink) satin (they agreed on all "hated" or "loved" comments, unless otherwise noted - MR is Melissa Rivers, JR is Joan Rivers and LH is Leon Hall) Joely Richardson - loved Claire Danes - LH: Should've pulled back her hair, loved colors - JR: hated, said it looked like a Cirque de Soleil costume Portia de Rossi - loved Cate Blanchett-LH: loved - MR and JR did not - JR said she looked like the mother of the bride Johnny Depp - JR: Pimp! You wanted to hand him $20 for the woman next to him Nicole Kidman-loved Halley Berry-JR didn't like top of dress, said it looked like one of her boobs was bandaged Kate Hudson-loved Uma - not crazy about it, but all agreed improvement since the Oscars Natalie Portman-thrift shop, bad flapper costume Mick Jagger- JR: Jerry Hall is lucky she got away, he looks frightening Lisa Marie Presley - Frightening - Vampira looking (I'm glad they didn't make a Stevie reference) Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn - they showed a pic of them together, but only commented on Goldie ? - loved - said she always wears the same type of dress, but knows what works for her Naomi Watts-loved Nicolette Sheridan-surpisingly conservative for her, loved Scarlett Johanssen - most sought after by all the designers now - cuz she has that Marilyn Monroe look. JR said she looked TOO 1950's Diane Krueger (I have no idea who this chick is, but she presented also - her dress was horrid - probably the only one all night I was wondering, wtf??) -hated - Circus Circus costume - LH said she looked like Miss Gay America New Orleans Paula Abdul - hated Megan Mulalley (sp?) - wrong! Debra Messing-loved Christine Lahti-loved Dylan Walsh-loved Laura Linney-loved - classic - (but someone on another show said her eyes looked too goth, and WE agreed!) Leonardo - loved - said he's trying hard to look grown-up, we should all be so lucky! Jamie Foxx-works for him - JR didn't like it Hillary Swank-loved, brown is IN-LH said she was perfect Deborah Mazar-LH said she looked like Bowie in drag Raquel Welch-loved-every man's fantasy for 78 years Wyclef Jean-music person, took a risk, but they loved David Carradine-hated the bolo tie Usher-love a man who wears diamonds-JR didn't like the open shirt - looks like he's saying, "Meet in Malibu for a cookout." Eva Longoria-pretty, sexy Orlando Bloom-handsome Mischa Barton-spectacular Emmi - whatever her last name is, Phantom of the Opera (and you live in dark shadows) chick - loved Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy - loved Liam and Natasha- classic Mike Nichols and Diane Sawyer-loved - Hollywood royalty! Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates-loved - she still looks like 18! Ashley Judd and her bf-loved Arnold and Maria-loved- Mr. and Mrs. California Worst dressed men: MR: Johnny Depp LH: Wyclef Jean JR: Mick Worst dressed women: MR: Diane Krueger LH: Diane Krueger (ugly!) JR:Lisa Maria Presley - she looked like a force-fed Cruella De Ville Best men: MR: Mekhai Pfeiffer LH: Thomas Hayden Church JR: Morgan Freeman Best women: MR: Teri Hatcher LH: Phantom chick JR: Eva Longoria Then P Diddy jumped on stage and he said Teri Hatcher was best dressed woman. ![]() |
