"Let's just have a stupidity tax! We don't all need nursemaiding!"

My personal favorite is Orgy. "They don't put fingers on these gloves, dear!" I literally spewed my drink!!!!!!!!!! And the Paris epsiode was hysterical. "Your tits are the keys to your cage, dahling!"

Series 5 came out on DVD a few months back, get it when you can because you won't be disappointed. It has the placenta episode.

Exclamation The reason I posted this...

was because I find ABC hypocritical...The wine/bitch/moan that "Saving Private Ryan" was too graphic (Bull****!) & filled with vulgar language (More Bull****!) yet they show the MNF intro (Which I missed because who wanted to see the mighty Eagles DESTROY the "Cow-girls" )

The TV show "Desparate Housewives" IMO is not as riske' as ABC (Awfully Bad Comedies) makes it to be, I see it as a prime-time "Soap Opera" with a humorous twist...Hell daytime soaps show much worse!

Aw Disney, I prey that Mickey Mouse chokes on some tainted cheese & f**kin dies!!!

I don't know, that last episode with the scrotum bit and premature ejaculation was pretty risque.

And, if I'm not mistaken, it wasn't ABC who refused to air SPR, it was a lot of the affiliates. ABC still went ahead with it.

but the SPR owned stations here arent even ABC affiliates, They are UPN/FOX affiliates so no-one is watchin' 'em anyways

As a child, I never ever stayed up past 9 unless it was a weekend, with no school, and I was watching supervised movie or something.

These KIDS who are allowed to watch Monday Night Football, which doesn't even start until 9...wtf?!

Desperate Housewives is SO tame. I haven't seen anything shocking. It's really tame and harmless and fun. My kids wouldn't be up anyway, it's on after 9.

It's ridiculous....so stupid. Parents need to take responsibility for their OWN kids....not blame everything else.

MNF is on at 8PM here in the Midwest, and it's on at 6PM on the West Coast, isn't it?

Football would be too violent for my kids to watch. I think it's much more detrimental to society for kids to see violent movies, etc, than a naked body, or sex.

As usual, I feel like I am living on a different planet. My TV hasn't been on for well over a week. And I work in television.
Has there been a national law passed that requires that children watch TV ?
No wonder a third of kids in this country are obese. Don't kids play sports, ride bikes, read, practice musical instruments, do homework, do chores, go to parks, or do anything but sit on their fat neglected butts all day long ?

don't get me started, that's exactly what i would've wrote. I usually rant about this until i realized that in a lot of cities and stuff, kids can't go out and play quite as much But still. I didn't have a TV hardly at all between ages 0-10 (we had one for a bit when i was 8, and i watched on my bi-yearly visits to Grandma) and i just ran and played constantly. when i had to stay inside, or go somewhere boring with my mom, I read books. sometimes i would draw, or practice writing. But i just read books, all the time. Aside from homework and chores. I mean, i couldn't wait to go outside and run my ass off all day long. I really don't think my child is going to have access to watching TV. My friends kid has a rule - no TV on the weekdays, and on weekends he can watch 3 hours (like, cartoons from 7-10 or 11) that seems really good. I might want my kid to watch educational and nature programs, which i remember we watched a ton of when we did have a TV.

I still would choose for my son, who's in the early stages of puberty, to be watching football instead of porn.

porn, yeah. And he's definitely old enough to watch football. I would choose my son to read a book or play outside, but when watching TV, Football would be ok. Specially if he plays (god forbid my son play football - ruins the knees faster than you can say "knees".)

He's not big into reading. But playing outside is where he spends most of his time. After school, I have a yardful of kids playing kick ball, baseball, basketball, football and of course dodge ball. But now with winter coming, he'll be inside more and I'm sure playing video games and watching the tube.

That's great. i also have a rule for my theoretical child about no video games. It seems like the most colossal waste of time and brains. but, whatevah. some of the video games are so violent. It seems to me, that a kid won't be into reading unless he is taught to be, but again, i don't have my own kid. i read a lot, because my mom did, and if we went out to eat she was reading, and i was bored, so i learned how as quickly as possible. (age 3-4). We didn't have a TV, and if i was bored my mom would say - go read a book.
But everyone is different, and that's ok.

You're right about the video games, most of them are violent and of course they are the ones kids want. But, I caved and was in line early when Halo 2 came out. I'm not a perfect Mom, but I'm in tune with my child.

Well, you sound very nice. I'm not sure i should even have a kid, i'd be one of those "my job isn't to be my child's friend, it's to raise them" parents. Gad! I'm also appalled at what parents let their children eat, nowadays, so clearly i'd be an evil despot! Like, I would minimally care what my child wants, because of course they want all the stuff they shouldn't have. I'm usually astounded at the extent to which parents let their kids make decisions. Yep, evil despot parent, that is me!
