You guys are handling it pretty well, I say. My joining in would only cause Jason to spin in circles and pull his hair out. Well, I guess that is a good reason to jump into the fray...
Again, show me how Gore did not cause his own defeat in the recount suit. I am still waiting for that answer. Yet all I get is purged felons, a stacked USSC (which no one seems to mind when the case goes their way ) - and a recount that Gore never put at issue. All of this is irrelevant to the point that Gore cherry picked counties and it cost him the election. AND I VOTED FOR GORE AND WANTED HIM TO WIN But, I am willing to call a spade a spade and am not now nor ever have been blinded by partisan loyalty.

I know

Scalia is a peice of work. He is, however, very smart. I just do not agree with him on almost every issue and think he is a hyppocrite, but then again all of them sort of are

You might need to. I'm going to be busy finishing up some work-related research I'm doing today because I've got the next few days off and need to turn this in before I take off. Feel free to torture Jason at will. I know you can do it much better than I can.

Besides, his relentless apologies for the thug-like behavior of his political party (and despite what you claim, we know what party your sympathies lie with and it damn sure ain't the Democrats) are beginning to bore me.

You are just wrong - I voted today and voted for Kerry. I voted for Gore. And I voted for Clinton twice. So, please do not pretend to know something about which you know nothing - it is offensive to pigeon hole me that way just because I have an opinion that DARES to stray from the D party line. Again, facts are facts no matter who tries to spin them and Gore lost Florida because of his presumably calculated cherry picking. Again, show me the law that says he could not have requested hand recounts in other counties that were close but not favorable to him

Moreover, I apologize for no one - please show me where I have done that - I submit you cannot. That is such a lame argument (and I am complimenting it by calling it an argument). I have never said what the R party did was good. In fact, I specifically admonished it earlier in this thread and have done so in other threads. But, I will say it again, the R party, Harris in particular, behaved horribly in the 2000 election. But, so did the D party. Two wrongs do not make a right and you all act like poor Gore was just a helpless victim - if that was the case, then he and D's were too stupid IMO for Gore to have been the Pres.

Gee, Strand, you seem. . .stressed. Why ever for? I just can't imagine.

Must be all that contorting you try to do while defending the unethical and illegal actions of the current resident of 1600 PA Avenue in DC.

I am not stressed. I just think you make up things about me that are not true. You call me a Republican, when I have repeatedly stated I am not - yet you think you somehow "know" better. Then you call me an apologist, when I have done nothing of the sort. Now you say I am defending what the R's did in Florida. I am not doing that and in fact I have adminished them for it. Please explain to me how i have defended them? All I have done is say Gore screwed up by cherry picking counties that were seemingly favorable to him - a fact you have yet to refute mind you.

But, you are seemingly so blindly partisan that you seem to think that anyone who dares to think outside party lines is a R sympathizer. Well, I am here to tell you I am not that way.

Morevoer, you do not argue in the true sense of the word and that is aggravating.

All I have to do is bring up the fact that he once agreed that Ollie North lived as a felon for three years and that he once said Iraq attacked the US.

I said that and I was joking.

But how you came to the conclusion that Bush won Florida fair and square will continue to puzzle me. The USSC chose our president.

I most certainly do not think W won Florida fair and square. I do not think I ever said that. If I did, I was wrong because the R's, particularly that Harris woman, behaved horribly IMO. What I thought I said was W won the court case Gore initiated because clearly there was no equal protection under the law - votes were being counted one way in one place and another way in another place - there was no set standard that I or the Court saw. How can that be fair? AND - does we allow the lack of fairness there as a way of compensating for the lack of fairness shown by the R's? In the end, I blame Gore for that (cherry picking) and everything else we talked about. So, my point is Gore shot himself in the foot in the 2000 Florida debacle and, as Gore readily and correctly admitted, once the Court determines it, that is it - that is the law - like it or not. But, when I say that, people miss my point and think I am sauting to W, which I clearly am not and never have.

But, enough of this tommyrot and subterfuge Let's get back to my original question!!!!!

Will the same people who complained of the electoral college in 2000 be so ready to complain again if Kerry wins the electoral vote but not the popular vote?

I am still waiting for anyone to answer that!!!!!!

So if you're the non-Republican you claim to be, why do you post crap against the Democrats in support of the Repugs????

Moreover, the writer you site is incorrect. Again, the Florida law said:
No and no. He could only ask for recounts in those counties where there were problems. Again, the law prevented him from requesting a statewide manual recount until the election was certified.

He couldn't ask for a manual recount satewide until the elction was certified. He could only ask for them in certain counties.
The whole equal protection thing was a bunch of bull****. They never considered it until the oral arguments and only then because the technical issues would have failed to annoint W president.

Read your own post. That's what it says.
