Default Tusk DVD Audio

I just got 5.1 surround sound system and I've had the Rumours DVD-Audio. Does anyone kno when Tusk will be released? The sound is awesome. Also, what is the diff between DVD-Audios and SACDs?

Just to update the articles in the links, the format war may be moot since manufacturers are releasing dual DVD-A/SACD players (except or Sony which created/invented SACD). Check out players from Denon, Pioneer and Panasonic just to name a few. This is comparable to the situation with current pc dvd writers which support both the dvd+r and dvd-r formats.

Also, DVD-A can now be played using a digital connection, though currently you'll be paying more for that privilege. Pioneer uses firewire in their higher end line (Pioneer Elite). Denon uses a proprietary link comparable to firewire in their newest receivers and dvd players. Manufacturers are awaiting Sony's approval to output SACD digitally.

Also, hybrid cd's (one layer cd, one layer SACD) are out there and not necessarily in the SACD section in the stores. For example, all the ABKCO label Rolling Stone reissues were released as hybrids and will most likely be found along with regular cd's instead of in the SACD section.

Question

Hey, this is a big OT, but can any of you guys that are more tuned in with the technical angles of the SACD's answer something for me? :

I recently got the SACD for the John Mayall album "Along for the ride" (because it has a bonus track over the regular version of the CD) and when I tried to rip the tracks from the SACD, my ripper wouldn't let me do it (I'd put in the disc and it would just bring up the blank ripper page, as if I hadn't put a CD in and clicked on the ripper icon), yet it plays fine in my reglar CD player and I was able to rip the tracks from the regular CD version before I traded it in but in case I want to rip anything further from the SACD in the future (or any other SACD's I might get), can you tell me why I couldn't do it (so I know what I can do to fix it or whatever)? Thanks in advance.

John

John,
I may be completey off the mark here but I know SACDs are a Sony product and most Sony CDs are copy protected, meaning you can't play them on your computer, so you can't copy them. I don't know if this is the same with SACDs, it might be.
I'm sure there's someone in the know here, who can tell you for sure.

Thanks trackaghost

Yeah, hopefully someone here can let me know how to get around that (if I can).

A couple of links to various forums where they had the same ripping SACD questions:

http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/archi...p/t-73451.html

http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/1/42560.html

Bottom line, can't be done right now. It might not even be worth it.
