That bald-guy look is SO mid-90's over! And for me, it was never in at all... I wouldn't necessarily say that hair makes the man, but that baldy/spitter persona thing is so nazty.Anyways.... Yeah Stevie's fatter. I don't care whether or not she's fat, I just care whether or not she's awake onstage. I just didn't get anything from her on this last tour, with the exception of "Beautiful Child" and "Goodbye Baby"- and those two songs don't really apply. I saw Heart live at the Greek Theatre in LA and was in the front row right in front of Ann Wilson and she really kicks ass. She's only two years younger than Stevie and the contrast between the two is amazing. I'm sad that Stevie's an old lady and will never be like the Stevie I once knew. But, hey, everyone gets old. I just think people need to open up their eyes and admit that time has changed and not necessarily for the better. The world won't stop turning if you say Stevie Nicks is a listless, old cow. |

Singing in something other than her lowest register would make a HUGE difference.

, but I think it's obvious she has to take great care in not shredding her voice like she used to. I don't think it's hard to understand that she has to make it a priority (and I imagine it must be frustrating to her as well)...singing is her life and she can carry on in a little different way or she can quit. This is also someone who would, I'm sure, find it devastating to lose her voice permenently even if she retired from the stage...she loves to sing at home too! I realize the remedy is too much for some of you to take, but I think she's done a good job of coming up with creative new stylings in the lower register for many of her songs (Rhiannon, GDW ending, etc.)Some songs that were recorded in a higher key just cannot be sung night after night without taking their toll on the singer. "Come" is another example. I love the rehearsal segment in Destiny Rules where Lindsey jokes about keeping it in the original key and interjecting lip synched bits where he cannot reach the notes. |

You know, I got out some old videos last night and had a mini Stevie Festival, as I used to call them back in the day. I watched the US Festival, and the Solid Gold/SNL performances. My conclusion ? Stand Back is a world better than it ever was back then. Both musically - man it was thin and silly in all those shows - and in her performance. She really does have more focus now. Sure she was a knockout then, but she was F'd up beyond belief and kind of not even there. |

I just think some people are more willing to accept the change in Stevie's onstage demeanor. Some people even.... *GASP*... love how she is onstage these days! It shouldn't be that hard to accept or understand. ![]() As I've said countless times, I definitely miss the days when she would "rock out" and act like a wild woman. But that was then, and this is now. Things change. So why bother trying to hold onto something and wanting it to always be the same? Stevie's not the same as she was 10-20 years ago. And she's not Tina Turner, or Ann Wilson, or Cher, etc., etc., etc. So why waste time wanting her to be? Stevie's matured... I, for one, happen to like the maturity. I like the "Earth Mother" vibe she projects. It's real and it reflects who she is today. She seems to be in a better emotional place, and she doesn't have as much to prove to herself or to her male peers, as she did in the '70s and '80s. I don't expect everyone to feel the same way I feel. I guess I just honestly don't understand why it's such a big deal. ![]()
