VMA's

Just wondering if anyone caught any of the show. I was flipping through the channels, so I didn't see much, but what I did see sucked with 2 exceptions:

Alicia Keys w/ Stevie Wonder & Lenny Kravitz - they were really incredible, kicked the sh*t out of "Higher Ground."

I can't believe I'm about to say this: Nelly & Christina Aguilara (sp) - WOW: a really good performance, not trashy at all. They did a funky hip-hop thing with a roaring 20's feel to it (dancers in flapper outfits, big horn section) and no one was naked or grabbing their boobs or crotches - how refreshing! Can it be that X-Tina is finally realizing that T&A won't last forever & that she'll nee to rely on her talent?

i agree w/ u on both parts, those were the 2 things that i thought were the best in the show, alicia keys, man her voice & talent r awesome, & stevie wonder, whata legend, & lenny well i have always thought he was sexy!!!~ & i 2 liked the whole roaring 20's theme & the song christina & nelly sang~ they surprised the hell outa me!!! ow yeah i also liked the jessica simpson part, the 2nd song she sang i think it was called "angel" was gorgeous~ she has a set of pipes on her!!!~

That was great. She can really sing, so as long as she respects her voice and her talent, she'll be okay. Loved the flapper theme.

Stevie, Alicia and Lenny kicked ass. He was wearing something that looked like angel wings.

ITA - The Nelly/Christina song ROCKED! Is that on her album? I'm glad she's realizing that she can still be sexy without being 3/4 naked on stage!

I adore Alicia Keys - own both her albums and listen to them often. Anyway- yes, Higher Ground was incredible!!

The rest of the show? Meh...could've lived without it! What a waste of time!

Was Britney totally shut out on the awards? Heh!

She's never won a VMA. I think she is becoming less and less a marketing tool. Her singles are doing poorly, and even though her albums are opening at #1, they lose there spot quickly. Hopefully she and her future hubby will take Nick and Jessica's place and it bombs.

Sadly, I'd probably watch that show! LOL I like the Toxic video, even if she has stolen all her dance moves from Madonna and Janet Jackson.

Did you catch her Live in Miami performance? It was horrid! I kept yelling "Sing live dammit." When she finally did (I think it was one song....Everytime), I screamed "Lip-sync"! I couldn't believe how bad she sounded.....Anyone can be a star these days

OMG! LOL I forgot about that part....Yes, very comical......It was a riot.


Did you also notice the crowd wasn't very energetic? I guess it would suck to hear songs just like the CD.....because it is the CD....

Sad but true. I knew she wasn't much of a singer, but I was actually shocked at how horrible she sounded during that performance -- especially since she wasn't in the middle of a dance number.

Yeah, I was surprised that Britney was so MIA. Christina was very happy to be all over it. God, in 1999 I didn't realize that we'd even still be talking about these two.

Anyway, the show was boring.

Jessica Simpson, please go back to singing normally. That's all I have to say.

OMG, I KNOW! What happened? She's a beautiful woman with a phenomenal voice, yet lately she plays with EVERY single note. It's annoying.

Note to Jessica: you can obviously sing, so you don't have to make one word 18 different notes anymore. Please stop!

She was booked to perform at the GOP convention this week, but Dubya vetoed it. Not that it did any good, his daughters got up there last night and did more than damage than Hootchie Spears could.

The whole premise for the video was stolen from Alias. I couldn't believe it. But originality hasn't been her strong suit.
