Cool One year from now, the "Star Wars" saga will be over

http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movi...ars/index.html

Can't wait a year to see Episode III. Though the success and impact is not like the first trilogy, cause now you can compare these last films (Ep. I & II) to Lord of the Rings (fx, story, mistique), or Matrix, (fx) etc. Now Star Wars is not "new stuff" or "nothing ever seen" at all, as the original first movie was.

But anyway I really want to see how Anakin becomes Darth Vader!!!! Hope George Lucas thinks in something really really good for that moment. Everybody is expecting a great scene.

That's why I agree with CNN article: No film will carry as much weight as the last "Star Wars" movie or inspire more arguing and speculating about how it unfolds.

I saw the three "originals" when they came out. I have not seen Episode I, but I saw Episode II and was bored stiff. If I hear good things about this one, I imagine I'll catch it.

Episode II bored me as well and I thought the acting was stiff. But, I still loved it because I am a total Star Wars person!!!!!

I adored the original Star Wars movies so much - I had a bad feeling these prequels wouldn't live up to it. However, I still thought they would be fairly good. I was utterly wrong. JarJar was excruciating to listen to with his tiresome baby talk "Me-sa sad." The inclusion of C3PO was totally anachronistic, but I understand they were desperate to have some character people would care about. Still, it was ridiculous. Finally, am I really supposed to care whether some 8 year old wins his futuristic go-cart race? The "romantic feelings" between him and a 13-yr-old were also pretty laugable.

The second one was better, but I still coudln't get into the characters. I did get a good laugh out of Matrix Ninja Yoda.

I don't think I'll probably see the third. It will no doubt end on a very sad note, and I want to pretnd the last Stars Wars movie is "Return of the Jedi." Hmm, think I'll pop that into the VCR tonight. I never tire of it! (Wasn't that another thread? lol)

P.S. Can't wait until birthday/Christmas when I can get the "enhanced" originals on DVD. I'm too poor to get them now.

Dude, I've already been counting down the days for Ep III since they first announced it on TF.N.... over a year ago. Ep III is soo gonna rock. The day it comes out, my siblings are I are gonna dress up like Jedi and just hang out at the theater all day- and lightsabers. We're bringing lots of plastic lightsabers. I'm sure I'll see it pleanty more times after opening day in the theater, but that warm May day is gonna end sad. LONG LIVE THE EXPANDED UNIVERSE!!

Sorry, Star Wars just gets me so excited. I can go on and on forever about it. If anyone ever wants to talk some pathetic sci-fi, gimmee a yell.

I was wondering when you'd turn up in this thread.

I'm more looking forward to my X Files movie. I'll be standing in line and hell, maybe I'll even dress up like Scully :P

Anyway, I am a huge fan of the original Star Wars. So much of a fan, I never saw the prequels. I just couldn't garner up enough excitement! I did see the original films in the theaters when they rereleased them before the prequels started..so great to see in a theater! My mom was pregnant with me for the first movie so I only saw it in spirit and Jedi I did see as a child in the theater but I was about 5 or 6 and I barely remember it.

But nothing can compare...but maybe someday I'll give them a try. Are they really worth it?! I never hear that they are!

I liked the first one. Is there a date for the release?

Default Star Wars

If possible I'll be there opening day, not sure which poor soul I'll drag with me, but I am excited about it! I am going to be sad that they are all done, I never saw them in their first release, but I did see all the re-releases and Episode I on opening day (great memories). I'll probably still enjoy the EU books and whatnot, but w/o the movies in won't be the same...

Oh as for if the prequels are worth seeing, yes they are the visual effects are stunning, and the pod race is a great sequnce (would've died to have seen it in an IMAX). But just go in figuring that the acting and script is a bit cheesy, but then again the origionals acting and script was a bit cheesy too...

I am a HUGE Star Wars fan (but I enjoyed Episode II). I thought Episode I was quite lame with Jar Jar (quite possibly the stupidest character to ever show up in film) I think Hayden Christensen got a bad rap for his portrayal of Anakin, and I think that was a bit unfair-- an actor is only as good as the lines he is given, so Lucas gets all the blame for that one (he is one of the worst dialogue writers next to James Cameron, IMO). If anyone has seen "Life as a House," you know that Hayden can truly act If anyone is a bit stiff in the film, I'd say it's Natalie Portman, but she is a much better actress in other films too. I just hope Hayden and Natalie aren't cursed by SW the rest of their careers.

I can't WAIT to see Episode III!!!!! (When will it have a title already? LOL)

No. David Duchovny has just said numerous times that is it being written, and that he, Gillian Anderson ( Scully) and Mitch Pileggi ( Skinner) are going to be in it. They didn't think Doggett ( Robert Patrick) or Reyes ( Annabeth Gish) will be in it.

He said next year hopefully. If that's the case, I imagine a 2005 Christmas release...but I imagine more a 2006 summer release unless they really start filming soon!

Gillian has been doing London plays but she was on Ellen and she announced she's ready to do films again. I just want tons more XF films! Gillian is still in her mid 30's and David in his mid 40's so they have plenty of time to make lots of movies

Thanks. I'll probably see it.
I always assumed Gillian was older than that.

Everyone laughed though when Yoda fought, oh and Anakin's "wet dream" lol!
Yoda kicking Count Dooku's ass definitely got the most applause during the showing I went to! People came out of the theater like, "Yoda, I am. Kick your ass mercilessly, I will."
