Lightbulb Perception

This is just too hilarious. We have posters saying that Stevie looked sick, tired and rundown, another saying if she WAS sick, you couldn't tell, she rocked the house....I mean, ridiculous.

I'm amazed at how two people can look at the SAME EXACT THING and see something TOTALLY different.

That's why I decided a very long time ago, that I never believe anything until I see it with my own two eyes.

Perception clouds everything... some people always see things in the most negative possible way, and others see things thru the proverbial rose-colored glasses. Reality is usually somewhere in between.
And then when I have the facts, I tend to prefer looking for the silver linings, rather than focusing on the dark clouds.

Well I saw Stevie upclose tonight and she didn't appear sick and was in good form. She was even playful, putting on a cowboy hat someone handed her during GYOW, and wearing it until she came back for the encore. She didn't push any envelopes, but she didn't put on a blah show by any means. If anything I'd say she looked a little road worn. But again this is all opinion, personal observation, and perception.

I pushed my metaphor a little too far, huh? Drat!

Louie... I guess the big question would be, How was the interaction between Stevie & Lindsey?

From reports I've heard, they're certainly not showing any evidence on stage of being in the middle of some kind of feud.

By the way, I was thinking that one can suffer from bronchial problems (such as Stevie has often been plagued with) without showing outward signs of being "sick." Maybe the term "sick" is what's throwing everyone off.

Also, I posted this on Nancy's site regarding Stevie being sick and what that could mean to her voice:

I would have thought the same about Destiny Rules, I mean that song is sung so low. Yet, Cory said Stevie dropped DR because it was taxing her voice - go figure!!!!! Way back when, when I took voice lessons, my coach always told me it was the modulating effect that was taxing on the chords AND it is possible to sing a more taxing song or say a longer speech if the sounds made are not the sounds that tax you the most, etc. In other words, when singing SS, Stevie may have to hit a few notes that hurt her and those notes are not in other songs in the same octave. AND SS is sung in a higher key than almost any song I can think of in the set, with perhaps the exception of parts of Sara.

so - it could be that Stevie looks and feels fine - it is just that part of her voice is not cooperating with her.

In any event, no matter what is going on or how it is perceived, I wish her nothing but good thoughts and a speedy recovery!!!!!!!

I was right up there. It was a bit chilly. Lindsey was making an effort, blowing kisses at her, etc. But she seemed a bit pissed off at him, nothing major. During band intros, He blew kisses at her and she just looked at him. He said something to her and just rolled his eyes. Things were a bit frosty. The only time things were "sweet" were during "Landslide" when she went to kiss his hand and smooched right above his skin. (This makes me think that she is coming down with something) When they got really close during "Sara" and "SYW" either she or he covered their mouths and the other smiled. (I guess so she wouldn't get him sick). At the very end, they stood on the side of the stage together and Stevie put her arms around herself (with her shawl) and he stood behind her, put his hands on tops of her arms, leaned in and kissed the back of her head. I give Lindsey major points for trying to smooth over whatever fight is going on right now (if there is one).

They did their usual holding hands while walking on and off stage, rubbing one another's shoulders, singing towards each other, etc. If they're feuding they sure aren't letting it spill over to the concert. They were all smiles to one another all evening.

I could see Stevie having a bronchial infection though. You could tell her vocals just cut out a few times. She didn't sound strained by any means... though. I guess it's more of a subjective thing tho. She put on a just fine show.

Hmm, well, I'm not worried.

I figure that if they've been fighting, or if she's mad at him, she wouldn't turn around and act sweet towards him during some songs, nor would she sometimes smile at him.
And vice versa.

She might have been hot and a little under the weather, and therefore not looking entirely thrilled throughout the whole show.

And the crying... well, if my mom & aunts are any indication, tears are a regular occurance for menopausal women!

I think it's a sore throat or perhaps the bronchial thing you all are talking about. I remember in the Rumours Japan video, Stevie putting her head in one of those steam machines. Perhaps, she needs one of those on this tour, or maybe she's using one.

Read that Lindsey had his boo boo taken care of.

My first show is in 26 days....surely, this sickness and stuff will be long gone, and SS will return.

Edit: Well, that last sentence made me sound like a beyotch. LOL I didn't mean to sound self centered, and I pray that Stevie gets rest and her sickness goes away soon!!!!

see ya at the Dallas show...I am planning on buying my ticket tomorrow. Should be an emotional week for Debbie & myself too, Her final chemo treatment is on the 18th and we will be celebrating! (Not to mention a new Mac live album/DVD and a frikkin' vacation that is long overdue.)

Brian, I am REALLY happy to hear that Debbie will soon be finished with her treatments. I hope everything is smooth sailing from here on out, and that her health continues to improve.

Debbie is doing great...And will be cancer free very, very soon.

But now the worry on my part starts. I have to undergo a medical procedure early next week to determine WTH is wrong with the soreness I am experiencing with my throat (And these @#$%^& choking episodes I am currently having).

Had a DR. appt today and my new DR. (Who's a frikkin' kid, I was thinking to myself "Gee, He's frikkin' Doogie Howser" when he entered the room...Man, I feel old now!) is very concerned with whatever it is.

Anyways, Back to the subject at hand...I hope Stevie's starts to feel better from whatever illness has is suffering from (Hopefully it's nothing more than a minor bronchial infection.)

Any experts here on Virginia Woolf's "To the Lighthouse"?

We studied this last semester in my Modern British and American Fiction class...all about the theory that perception affects reality...I don't know...I didn't understand it...lol
