My favorite (just to be very original ):
Every night that goes between, I feel a little less

...and:
Illume says the candle that I burn

Do you always trust your first, initial feeling?

Temptation falls in your path
No hesitation; why, you ask

I love to waltz with a man in a dark linen suit

You think you hear demons
I think you are the demon

We see no change in sight
Watching her decline

Romy

Default All great choices...

...I'll stay with

"You think you hear demons, I think you are the demon"

"Now here you go again, you say you want your freedom"

"Until she herself became the deadliest poison..."

"I chose to be his confident and to keep him from the fire"

and many many more.

Song of the moment - Oh Well

Default fave lines

not sure how many of these are first lines only

"Maybe we were together in another life Maybe we are together in a parallel universe Maybe our paths are not supposed to cross twice
Maybe your arms are not supposed to go around me"

"You could be my silver spring, my blue green colors flashing"

"sometimes the most innocent things, the most beautiful things pass us by...keep passing me by."

"It wasn't that I didn't love you I just couldn't make you see
That as hard as I tried To make it all better
It was not better for me"

"For no special reason
I am leaving you for awhile tonight"

"So I'm back, to the velvet
underground"

"Something in my heart died last night."

Off the subject, but I must ask. Do you know many women with your name? I know two women in Houston named Romy, and until two years ago, I don't think I'd ever heard the name before.

Such an unusual choice for the first word for a song. Also, I love her songs that begin with "And", as though she knows she's just writing more of the same long song.

Hi Jake, no I don't know many "Romy", and actually it's just my nick coming from a quite long Italian first name.

Romy (aka Francesca Romana)

Wow, there's no doubting you're Italian, eh?

Candlebright & Gypsy have great starts.

"Well there you go again, you say, you want your freedom."

The way she sings that on Rumours is so velvety smooth, it just flows off the tongue. I also like the way the song begins as if we're dropped in the middle of a conversation that is already taking place.

SOTM and GDW opening lines are runners-up.
