It's not so much the debates over whose better, Lindsey or Stevie...it's the whole concept of Lindsey AND Stevie being the "be all & end all" of Fleetwood Mac that irks me. Fleetwood Mac lived before they got here and survived without 'em after they left.

It's right up there with the "who's better, Lennon or McCartney" debates on Beatle boards. As McCartney said during the Anthology..."Damn it, it's the Beatles, shut up"

So, I paraphrase the above in reference to the "Lindsey vs Stevie" debates as:

Argue who's better over their solo material..."if it's a Fleetwood Mac song, damn it, it's Fleetwood Mac, shut up"

THANK YOU!!! It cuts both ways, BNicks would not have been known w/o FMac! Bare Trees, Future Games, Mystery to Me sold 250,000-300,000 copies riding on CMcVie and Welch. It's Fleetwood Mac that has made Fleetwood Mac. And Stevie and Linsdey would agree now that they have grown up and stopped beating each other up.

I really despise this cover. AND the title. Ugly & Dumb. When I saw them live, I really experienced " togetherness ". To my total surprise I must admit. What I did NOT see: four individuals going for their own thing. And that's exactly what this cover communicates !

Shameful and a very big chance missed. They really DIDN'T think about visual communication and it's importance. Not with this bad excuse for a cover. The 1980 live-album-cover is a trazillion times better.

If I sound a bit frustrated about this: Thast is exactly what I mean. I'm angry about so much tastelessness....

Live album covers are tough because the album itself is not a single concept, but rather, a compilation of a bunch of songs. Although I thought "The Dance" cover was gorgeous, I didn't think it was appropriate for a live album. Nothing about it suggested that "this is a live album" until you flipped it over and read the track listing. Alternatively, a straightforward shot of the band in performance would have been too obvious, much like the live album covers from the 70s.

For what it is, I like the cover. It's a bit on the chintzy side, but it definitely captures the mood and the drama of an FM show- with Mick in mid-yell, Lindsey's intensity, and Stevie's ethereal gossamer-winged presence. If anything, I think the title really blows! Couldn't they have come up with something even a little creative? Like "Mac at Fleet"? ;-)

La Nicks is a term of endearment. "La" is the French word for "The" in the feminine form. It is routinely used in the vernacular as such in reference to many other people. It is not a slam, it is a compliment - at least how I am using it

dang...let it go....i personally think it's great and besides its whats on the disc that matters and i'm sure that won't disappoint you.....don't get so pissy about a freakin cd cover...there are worse things to worry about.

Evidence!? Persecution complex!? Dude, evidently you take this stuff much more seriously than I do. Posting goofy remarks and playfully engaging in discussions about these people is mere entertainment for me, a way to break up my day, which involves staring at a screen for hours and trying to find mistakes in people's copy. Fleetwood Mac is not a religion for me, much less an obsession.

I think some poeple here get that I am rarely 100 percent serious when I make the more stinging comments about the band. Others don't. I guess we know where you fit.

I don't do anything else than you: You think it's great. I say it stinks. It's an unprofessional, goofy dumb and ugly cover that communicates cheapness. Because I know that what will be on the inside is worth a listen, makes me more angry about it. I would like to see that the band I love gets some more critical acclaim, and here in Europe get some ATTENTION at all, because their work deserves it. Maybe you think that a cover has no effect on that, well then ok. But i know that it has, and if I can choose which dvd I'm buying and that second hand B-design is one of them, I don't take the risk that it represents what's on the inside.

We're living in a visual consumption society. That means nothing to you. fair enough. I teach visual communication in university. And I can get pissed about these things with the same passion as I can be pissed about American political attitude. So, please, don't say that I should not.

It's what estrangedforlife said earlier: It looks like a friggin' homecollage from a bootlegger. Cheap cheaper cheapest.

I agree with you and Brian. It looks like one of us cut out pictures from the concert photos we took and pasted it on a blue background and added that stupid sun to it. It's disappointing. Actually, the fans would have done a better job with it!

I'm excited about the music and everything, it's just that covers do mean something to the general public, because as Gerald said, we are a visual society, unfortunately.

Hey, who knows, perhaps it will sell more than the Dance.

Yeah, I have a tendency to take people at their word and assume they mean what they say. I assume people are genuine and stand behind their statements. I guess we know where you DON'T fit.

Perhaps I overreacted and took things too personally - I am under immense stress this time of year and I come here to relieve that stress. I have been writing papers all week and will continue to do so until next Friday, when all four will be done. And I very well might be losing my grip on proper persepctive and reality altogether, because right now my reality consists of Shakespeare, Archival Theory, and John Donne. So please spare me the trite Shakespearen quotes and I will try to be less pissy towards you and everyone else in my path, for that matter.
